I don't have his background, so maybe those things are cause for him to cry for nearly half an hour.

But I watched a child die in the 70s of something that is easily dealt with here in the 2010s. I very nearly watched my wife and unborn child die thanks to a drunk driver, and said drunk driver took my flying career away from me (he received very little punishment in return). I watched my father, the strongest man I've ever known, slowly fade away from Alzheimer’s, and we couldn't even properly say goodbye to him because he didn't know who we were at the end.

Those are the kinds of things that have made me cry for extended periods.

But Kavanaugh's confirmation? If I were him, I'd be spitting fire, but I wouldn't be crying and choking up over it. But again, his background is vastly different than mine.
