Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has verbally resigned to Chief of Staff John Kelly in anticipation of being fired by President Trump, according to a source with direct knowledge.
Per a second source with direct knowledge: “He’s expecting to be fired,” so plans to step down. Background: Rosenstein talked last year invoking the 25th Amendment and wearing a wire during Trump meetings, the N.Y. Times' Adam Goldman and Michael S. Schmidt reported last week. He denied both allegations.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is expecting to be fired Monday at the White House, after critical comments about President Donald Trump.
That’s according to a source familiar with his thinking who wasn’t authorized to speak on the record and spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity.
It follows reports Friday that Rosenstein floated the idea of secretly recording Trump last year and that he raised the idea of using the 25th Amendment to remove Trump as unfit for office. Rosenstein has denied the reports.

DeGenova has proven inconsistent, embarrassed Trump earlier this year, and has foreign ties that disqualify him. I keep thinking, politics aside, that Chris Christie would be a good replacement from outside. We need someone that can go toe-to-toe with the current entrenched collaborators in DOJ/FBI.

The more I think about it, the more I agree. If you let him resign, you look better. The impeachment/obstruction fodder isn’t quite as good.
How does that work anyway? Can you resign before you are fired and have it count?

Sources confirm to AP, ABC News, and CBS News that Rod Rosenstein has been summoned to the White House and expects to be fired. Reports that he has chosen to resign have been denied.
any people have been saying the articles about the recording/25th Amendment is a trap to be used to trick Trump to fire Rosenstein. Many saying he must fire him “immediately.” Why? Shortly before the election? Weird timing.
