Lawyers for Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, refused Friday to reply in time to meet Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley’s (R-IA) final deadline to agree to have their client testify.
Ford’s lead attorney, Democratic donor Deborah Katz, sent Judiciary Committee staff an email shortly after 9:00 p.m. refusing to give an answer.

There's so much happening here. I think he did but don't know for sure. MEGA soap opera.
McConnell made a promise to a group in a breakfast meeting on Friday. His confidence was clear. He said that Judge Kavanaugh would sit on the Supreme Court, and soon. He knows what the rest of us do not. I believe that here is what he knows:
He has the votes to confirm Kavanaugh, although a couple of those votes are soft and might go away if Ford is not handled with kid gloves. Those votes include a few Democrats, again provided that the Republicans don’t look like jerks to the oversensitive suburban women.
The Democrats have no intention of allowing Dr. Ford to testify under oath. They have been checking her story and they have concluded that her story won’t withstand a proper hearing. The only thing left to do is to stall as long as possible and use all of the media to continue selling the bogus story. It might help them in November.
Grassley has scheduled a vote for Monday, the earliest time that was available under the Senate rules. This drama will continue through the weekend, but it means nothing. Ford is not driving to Washington, she is probably in seclusion somewhere near Tahoe while her team of assassins do whatever they can. She might have a surprise appearance on 60 minutes where she can tell her fairy tale with no questions, provided that her handlers have determined that she can do that without screwing it up. When the vote comes Monday, without an appearance by her, the nomination will be sent to the Senate and a vote will occur in due course.
Q: Did Grassley ever get a copy of the UNREDACTED letter?
If not, how in Hades can they have a hearing w/o everyone being familiar with the unredacted letter?!
I am pretty sure that Twitter has maximum characters that can be typed in any single message. These shortcuts re normal, based upon other Twitter message I have seen.
I am pretty sure Grassley knows how to spell.
He didn’t even tweet this himself personally. Doubt he even knows how to use twitter. A 19 yr old intern/aid condensed his statements and posted these for him.

No Grassely is just playing out the clock. It’s the weekend. He could extend the deadline 5 more times. Who cares? If Ford doesn’t show for the Monday hearing them they can vote. She won’t show.
That's one concern, but I think their greatest worry is in losing the power to use the high court to legislate from the bench.
They've been creating 'settled law' out of thin air via the high court for generations.
A high court that renders judgements based solely on the law and the Constitution would be catastrophic for them.
As has been posted on other threads, Tucker Carlson is wrong. Kavanaugh can be confirmed and seated even in the middle of a SCOTUS term. That’s exactly what happened to Gorsuch last year.
