Its not Grassley. Its the squishes - Flake, Murkowski and Collins. My contempt for those putrid sacks of sh!t is beyond my ability to easily express.

On a personal level, I understand where they’re coming from. They’re at-will employees subject to abrupt termination at defined intervals who have to walk a tightrope between doing what they want to do and what a majority of hundreds of thousands or even millions of voters want to do. And once they’re voted out, they become essentially panhandlers at the doors of corporate boards. And if they become employees - how do you reconcile yourself to either starting as some nobody middle manager or becoming an ornamental ex-pol like a Picasso on the wall of some corporate building? Elected pols aren’t civil service people - they have to hustle after losing elections.
Having gone through the human dimensions of the job, I’m still very disappointed when these people fail to live up to their promises. But don’t think of them as pols - think of them as car salesmen with quotas - but of voters they have to avoid alienating, while hanging on to yours.
