I actually own a lot of movies with him in them. his agent seems to be really good at finding him good movies, even though I think he sucks in all of them.
My first experience with him was in Shallow Hal. I’d never heard of him before and through the entire movie I thought, this guy is horribly miscast.
Every role I’ve seen him in could have, in my opinion, been played much better by someone else, even an unknown.
BTW, the movies I own, off the top of my head, are High Fidelity and School of Rock. He’s terrible in both, but I like both stories.
Like Kristen Wiig, Jack Black thinks that if he just invents an odd-ball character with strange mannerisms it's automatically funny.
It isn't.
They both expect audiences will laugh and love them if they make funny faces, but it doesn't work that way.
P.S. Calling anybody a POS is a confession that one doesn't have much imagination or creativity.
If that's the best somebody can come up with it's sad - especially if they feel they have to say it in public.
