I meant to get back to this post and respond to you. Sorry it took so long. I try to respond to everyone, but once in a while I do miss a few comments to me as far as responses go.
As FReepers, I think we can and should do better to help Jim and all the folks that are dedicated to the FReep-a-thon campaigns.
It is unconscionable that we force the staff to work their butts off for all but two weeks of any given campaign. They only get to rest for a week or two, and they’re back at it.
Some of these folks are beyond the years when they should be dedicating this much time. It’s a hardship. Still, they have great big hearts and a tremendous sense of dedication. I really respect what they do.
Some states don’t pay as much as I’d like to see. I realize that. I really don’t want to call them out though.
If people value this forum, they will support it. If they don’t, they won’t, and we’ll know.
I’m glad that people from my state support the forum to the degree they do.
I appreciate every donation, big or small.
Anyone reading this should do some self-assessment and help out more. The most important thing is to join the monthlies.
We need to push that very hard.

Way to go, FReepers — look at all those mail-ins and $2000 in monthlies.
Both attributed to ending this FReepathon a little earlier than last time!

I had an idea.
Why not have a Freepathon lottery? Everyone gets a lottery ticket for each $10 donation. After deducting $90K - FreeRepublic’s overhead for the quarter, the excess is the lottery winning amount. (could be $100 could be $100K)
Onyx could be in charge of placing the tickets in the spin drum - and Admin Moderator selects one winning ticket on deadline day.
The winner is responsible for paying his/her taxes.
Hey - it could work - everyone is a gambler!!
God bless.
