Four years ago a seemingly invincible US senator came within a percentage point of losing his seat in an unexpectedly close election. Mark Warner was pretty moderate as far as Democrats go, a good fit for a state, Virginia, that had drifted out of the Republican column in the last two presidential elections and just elected a full slate of Democratic statewide officials a year before. But midterms are when presidents and their parties get rebuked, and Warner, a telecom millionaire who had once been tipped as presidential contender, took his support for granted. The Republican, lobbyist Ed Gillespie, was supposed to be hopeless, but he nearly claimed what was supposed to be a safe Democratic seat for the GOP.
Texas has been solidly Republican for a lot longer than Virginia has been Democratic, and by a wider margin. But that makes the fact that Ted Cruz has only a single-digit lead over his Democratic opponent, Beto ORourke, all the more remarkable. Polls suggest Senator Cruz is in trouble, and if the overwhelmingly Republican character of the Lone Star State counts against that, the likelihood that 2018 will be as bad for the GOP as 2014 was for the Democrats throws the contest up in the air again...

Republicans need to turnout on election day. That is all.
Wishful thinking
Prediction: Cruz wins by 11 pts!
Maybe a million. I guess that is like losing the way the liberal media sees it.
I think Cruz just wants to see what a Trump rally looks like. I don’t think he would lose without one.
I’ve never been a Ted Cruz fan but I did like what he was saying regarding the confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh.
Lying Ted behaved poorly during the presidential campaign. He has however been a model Trump supporting Senator since. We can only hope that more Senators would support Trump as staunchly as Cruz does. Losing Ted would be blow to the cointry.
We all have to have the mindset that we’re behind by 20 in every race and get to the polls - no matter what it takes.
No He Won’t Lose!
I posted too fast!
Yes He’ll Win
Not He Will NOT LOSE!
Sorry for that!
Not really, he has not. I seem to recall criticism and votes contrary to Trump. Plus, never has apologized for any lies. I suspect many Texans will want payback for a lying Canadian winning their Senate seat with Goldman-Sachs money, plus handing teddy bears out with boyfriend Glenn Beck. And IT workers will not forgive him getting together with Carly. What was the $500,000 bribe to her for anyway?
Well let’s make sure your results in November back up your words.
You would blame Lyn Teds loss on Republican women?! How nice you are. Precious. If Lyn Ted loses, it is 100% his fault, no one elses.
For you people outside of Texas, Loopy Valdez (Worst. Sheriff. Ever. - Though the Broward, FL guy tried.) is on the top of the “Straight Party” Ticket so the Dems are screwed.
for Ted to lose, the whole state would have to go blue.
Nobody is going to vote for Dan Patrick, then vote for Beto and nobody is saying Dan Patrick is going to lose, so why would Ted?
Every other commercial during the local news is a Beto ad filmed with a potato camera and yet he’s only at 42% to Ted’s 46% in the latest poll.
A Trump visit or a deranged leftist march would be nails in Beto’s political coffin.
Are you sure you're in the right place?
You come to a Trump-supporting, conservative forum and crap all over the conservative Senator that Trump has endorsed, after the primaries have been fought, and right before a tough election?
Whose side are you on exactly? Clearly, not President Trump's.
You don't like Ted Cruz? Fine. The time to fight that battle was the primaries. Ted Cruz is the nominee now and has President Trump's full endorsement.
This is the most important midterm election in our nation's history. Everything is at stake. Come on board or STFU but don't come here and try to be a disruptor.
Cruz has run a weak campaign thusfar. He finally got something going in Houston this past week, but I don’t think he’s done anything in the north Dallas suburbs. And he hasn’t been working the panhandle like he should.
Not much in the way of media, and even less in retail campaigning.
At this stage, it may be that Ted’s doing a better job at trying to lose than the Irishman is in trying to win.
Well said .
Hurt your feelings did I. Too bad. Dont go on FR expecting people to forgive and forget lyn Teds ways. Pathetic to see the pimps and all pushing him. And, worse, seeing people blame Republicans, Republican women for Lyn Teds impending loss. Trump will try and bail him out. That will be an uphill battle for an undeserving, unlikeable, prick. Too bad Trump cant say Screw you.
Who was your primary pick in 2018 if you are going to butthurt bitch so much???
Probabaly thanks to the jagoff Perry going to California trying to get businesses relocated there. Very stupid move.
