My first response to being wrongly accused of being accessory to terrible crimes would certainly be to remain silent at first and then say I plan to respond eventually. I mean that’s just the obvious response, right?
I dunno. If somebody accuses me of something and I KNOW I’m innocent, my immediate response is, “Hell No, I’m Innocent!”
