A senior BBC news executive has been charged under the Sexual Offences Act over a report that identified a Rotherham child abuse victim.
Arif Ansari, head of news at the Asian Network, appeared in court earlier this week.
The prosecution relates to a live broadcast on the radio station from a grooming trial in February, during which a reporter mistakenly named a victim of a sexual offence.
Last night the BBC attacked prosecutors for bringing criminal action against the editor personally, rather than the corporation itself, warning that the worrying decision creates a climate of fear for the media. Mr Ansari intends to plead not guilty.

I doubt it was a mistake.
I believe they’re charging the editor because there is normally a 6-10 second time lag and he should have caught it. I wouldn’t put it past them actually trying to intimidate witnesses using this method... I’d also be going for the reporter.
If they have a dump button and chose not to use it....Sounds like intimidation to me.
Let me guess, Innocent Muzzie mistake in IslamoLimeyland.
The BBC has been involved with covering up pedophiles in their company and in parliament for decades.

BINGO It was intentional intimidation directed at any new grooming victims considering coming forward. Implied is if you come out with information, well maliciously dox you.
