Professor Natasha Warikoo claims that white students "reluctantly agree with affirmative action as long as it benefits them
She's displeased that students she interviewed are motivated by "self-interest" instead of social justice
A Harvard University professor claims in a new academic study that merit-based admission processes at elite universities reproduce inequality.
Harvard education professor Natasha Warikoo draws on interviews with 98 white, native-born students at Harvard, Brown University, and the University of Oxford in What Meritocracy Means to its Winners: Admissions, Race, and Inequality, published in the journal Social Sciences.
White students stand in fear of being labeled a racist, but they are quick to call foul should a diversity program appear at all to hamper their own chances for advancement, Warikoo claims in that book.
During interviews Warikoo conducted between 2009 and 2011, these students were asked to sound-off on whether they felt their school had meritocratic admissions and if they supported affirmative action. Many answered the second question affirmatively and hailed the benefits of a diverse student body.
But Warikoo seems concerned with students responses. Analyzing data from these interviews years later, Warikoo points out that students approaches to diversity suggest that theyve internalized the tokenistic rhetoric of the school admissions office, even if they had disagreed with policies like athletic recruitment or legacy admissions before coming to campus.

“The health and safety of our nation has been compromised by professors like Natasha Warikoo. Was she given a place in front of the line, also?”
Most likely - just like you-know-who she probably claimed she was part “native American”.
Simple test: if it comes from a University professor in a made-up field should be ignored. Better yet, cue the laugh track.
I believe conservatives need to begin a nationwide movement to oust uppity white professors and deans who advocate for diversity on campus at the expense of deserving applicants by calling for them to relinquish their tenured positions in favor of less qualified minorities.
“Society itself is harmed when you graduate underperformers and label them as top performers. Then they are put in professional positions where they fail their customers, clients, patients and themselves. It a horrible travesty.”
Which is why the forces of evil are so determined to keep doing it.
I’m racist, sexist, and homophobic. Deal with it, Miss Warikookoo.
That looks like a dude.
Jus’ sayin’ ...
There is of course good naked and bad naked to hone the point even further.
That’s a man, baby!

Sounds like someone who thinks Handicapper General should be a cabinet level position when the Democrats regain the presidency. People who push that sort of evil nonsense should be be called “glampers” in honor of the Vonnegut story Harrison Bergeron.
The longer I live the less confidence and respect I have for academics and other "experts." Having been educated in what is now called STEM from lower school through High School I was not only prepared for college without any need for remedial catch up. All relevant to claim a modest ability to separate the BS from the real world.
I am reading a book which promised much and is delivering Marxism in the most repulsive and arrogant way possible.
Your statement triggered the probability that this book may be the third Book in my entire life that I will refuse to finish. Because it mirrors the nonsense of it : that poverty causes criminality, that those criminals had no choice, no part in the Social Contract.
That government must set thing right is always the temptation, and soon after adding that, the author writes the only thing of value to me, referring to the creators of Weapons of Math Destruction, mathematicians and statisticians, but more fittingly applied to elected criminals. "When Government fails at everything it tries, (Obama) before asking them to do better, we have to admit they can't do everything."
The name of the (non-fiction) book is Weapons of Math Destruction, Cathy O'Neil, Broadway Books, Crown Publishing Group, 2017
IF this idiot professor had lived when Edison was around, she would be complaining that Edison is putting candle makers & kerosene lamp makers out of business this comment was by ridesthemiles at #13 to which I replied.
Merit is offensive to those who have none.
