‘New York Post’ Cover Mocks Trump-Bashing Meghan McCain as ‘The Meg’

The New York Post mocked Meghan McCain as “The Meg” on its Sunday cover after she used the opportunity of her father’s funeral to attack President Trump. “The Meg” is a reference to a plus-sized shark in the late-summer hit movie The Meg, starring Jason Staham.

The New York Post cover is just one part of a brewing backlash against McCain and the overall funeral service for Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), which turned into an unseemly partisan rally Saturday with speakers like former Presidents Barack Obama and even George W. Bush trashing President Trump, who Sen. McCain refused to invite to his own funeral.

Also not invited was former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin, John McCain’s unfailingly loyal 2008 vice presidential running mate.

What made Saturday’s shocking display all the more crass was that Trump’s daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared were invited to the funeral and were forced to sit there and be humiliated, which might have been the plan. The McCain’s are infamous for holding petty grudges.

In an obvious shot at Trump, Meghan McCain used her eulogy to describe the death of her father as the passing of “American greatness. The real thing, not cheap rhetoric from men who will never come near the sacrifice he gave so willingly, nor the opportunistic appropriation of those who lived lives of comfort and privilege while he suffered and served.”

For good measure, she added, “The America of John McCain has no need to be made great again because America was always great.”

Obama was also not subtle. He ripped into those who traffic in “bombast and insult and phony controversies and manufactured outrage.”

She Wellstone-ized her daddy’s funeral on her own. I didn’t compare her to a whale, but now that the NY Post has said it, the comparison is too close to life to deny. She is not down, she’s exploiting what should be a tragic loss for political purposes, probably for personal gain. That’s ghoulish, and ghouls aren’t ‘down’ just because that’s the direction in which their supper lies. In my book, that throws the class manual out the window.

I won’t make fun of McCain, because I once actually voted for him and Palin (who was not invited despite her loyalty to McCain). And maybe somebody among the mourners actually gives a damn about his passing. As for The Meg, she’s fair game. If the leftards want me to stop, let Disney rehire Roseanne.

The Meg is like if the Wellstone family met an Orca and had a baby=The Meg.

The Meg brushes her teeth fifteen times a day; i.e., after every meal.

So far, this is all plagiarized. I’ll come up with some of my own later. It’s nearly 1 am here.

Well, you keep not understanding what I said, bring yourself down to below the Meg level and lose your arguments.

Argument? This is war. It’s been escalating since 1948, and became an outright CW II in November of 2016.

War, indeed. There are arguments in war, just like there are battles. Win most of the arguments, you win the war.

Your attitude and approch means you will win few troops. And may lose a few you alrady have and gain none changing sides.

These are not arguments. The Meg decided on a verbal assault. Verbal assaults are not arguments. They say one shiboleth or catch phrase, usually an assault. You respond with a putdown or some other non-argumentative retort. If you try arguing with logic and evidence, you are up against personal attacks, narratives and shiboleths, and an underlying paradigm that they are not even aware of, but it all amounts to one thing: relentless hatred of you, personally. You can argue with a reasonable person. We are arguing now. But we are two civilized adults who are not at war with each other. The Meg is nothing of the kind. She is an Orca. You can’t argue with an Orca, just keep it from biting a chunk out of you and if necessary, harpoon it.

We’re only talking verbal here, and in metaphors. But what would you say to Paul Ryan’s neighbor who assaulted him and broke his hip? I don’t particularly like Paul Ryan, and Paul Ryan is no Trumpster, but it was a physical assault on him by a neighbor because he’s a leader of the Republican side of the aisle. I’m not advocating assaulting him back, at least not at this time. But I’m not about to sit down and try to have an argument with this swine, either, or show him how classy I am.
