Washington Mourned John McCain. President Trump Played Golf.
NY Times ^ | Sept. 1, 2018 | Katie Rogers

For the clusters of onlookers, besuited power players and three former presidents who had all traveled to Washington National Cathedral, the muggy day was a historic opportunity to memorialize the life of Senator John McCain, who was remembered as a deeply patriotic war hero, a former Republican presidential candidate and a scrappy, humanly flawed, ultimately idealistic lawmaker.

For President Trump, it was Saturday.

In the many discussions about how to mark his life that Mr. McCain had with his staff and family before he died, he had made clear he did not want Mr. Trump to participate in anything they planned. So as Mr. McCain was eulogized in the presence of much of the American political establishment, Mr. Trump, pointedly uninvited, engaged in what by now is a familiar weekend routine. He sent a series of angry tweets aimed at some political adversaries, then left the White House to play a round of golf at his resort in Virginia.

Clinton and Obama mourned not playing golf. It must suck not having your own course.

Trump was supposed to clothe himself in sackcloth and ashes, take up residence in a bare monastery cell, and do penance for 48 days.

Is the funeral over yet? What a carnival freak show. Did they pose McCain in a real life pose, the “in” thing, with future ISIS killers?

Is he planted yet? Is it safe to turn on my TV yet?
Turning on the TV is always a dicey thing . . .

Along I-26 on Thursday I saw businesses & dealerships with their huge U.S. flags at half staff long after the official interval had passed.

This is in the South, so all I could think was that they were signalling, “F*** Trump and f*** all you Trump voters! I don’t f***ing care if I lose your business! I hate Trump and anyone who voted for him! P*** off, you lousy Deplorables!!”

Am I off the mark here?

I can’t take credit for the word. It originated in 2002 with the infamous “funeral-rally” for MN Sen. Paul Wellstone. It so repulsed the general public that the Republicans were able to recapture the Senate and the stand-in Democrat nominee for Wellstone, former Senator & Vice-President Walter Mondale, lost the election to the Republican Norm Coleman.

“”And if you’re there around sunset, stand by that piece of the Berlin Wall near the gravesite””

Is that where the gravesite is? We were there before he passed away. I remember where the piece from the Berlin Wall was and now I have a better idea where they were both buried. Thanks for that.

Did Trump really say “I like heroes who don’t get caught”?

It might not be an exact quote. But, he said something close to that in an interview during the campaign.

So how did Trump do on the fairways today? Was he under par? Did he get any holes-in-one? Did he ride his golf cart onto the green?

Reporting is so lousy these days. Journalism is dead.

Washington mourned John McCain

Moscow wept for Stalin

Pyongyang was desolated by the death of Kim il Sung

How did America feel about McCain?

He won’t be planted until tomorrow at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland (my home state BTW).

Tonight, it seems like it’s back to the endless Witch Hunt.

Watters World appears to be a recorded montage show.
Waiting to see what Judge Jeanine has shortly.

So happy our marvelous Commander-in-Chief didn’t have to suffer through that freak show of a funeral, absorbing barbs from all the scum.

It’s great he has several handy golf resorts to which he can escape all the chaos and refresh himself for more battles.
He has to take good care of his health. His country desperately needs him in fighting shape for another six-plus years!!!

How did America feel about McCain?

I'm reminded of a scene at the beginning of Star Wars 7.

Rey to Chewbacca: "Han Solo!! Wasn't he a war hero?!"

Chewbacca: "Meh-h-h."

Then-candidate Trump said precisely those words to Frank Luntz during an interview conducted in Iowa.
