Good morning LG. Well, I have to get an xray today as the doc was concerned the infection may have gone into my bone. Please pray it didn’t, because they will have to hook me up with an IV and possibly go in and get stuff out of the bone. Thanks!

hope things go well with doc visit Rusty. Cat bites can be nasty.. ESP the first one. I bred persians and exotic shorthairs. Had my first cat bit from my house pet FLUFFY a white persian who was older had a severe flea allergy issue (we were in NC at time) and would have seizures. I was about ready to leave for a trip to speak at a Christian Women’s retreat. would be staying at one of the minister’s wives home in Virginia. My son Jeff a-age about 7 - was going with me. It was Fri late morning and my husband was already at work.

Fluffy had a seizure. I grabbed her to calm her, like I always did. She latched onto my arm and teeth to bone. It bled a bit but I cleaned it up and put some gauze on and we were off. The car was packed and we had a nice leisurely trip to Va with one stop to visit friends on way, where my first address to group was at 7 that PM

As we drove I felt more and more tingling in forearm. It was red and hot and began swelling. 5 hours into trip it was double size. My son was crying and asked me if I was going to die. (I wasn’t sure)

We went straight to church camp where meetings were being held and I did my keynote presentation and lead one of the workshops afterwards. I kiddingly asked if there were any doctors present. No. But afterward on lady came up and told me her hubby was a vet and could talk with me.

My son although young was beside himself that I was gong to a vet rather than a doctor. The ride to her rural community was about half hour and I met her husband at their home. He laughed... I thought that was a good sign and he asked, First cat bite? Yes, I responded.

It is common in 85% of first bites. A reaction to something in the saliva. No treatment necessary. The body’s immune system takes charge and swelling/pain are gone in 72 hours. He was right. He said initial cleaning for infection was imps and I had done that. He said if I had further concern I should go to ER . There weren’t all the small satellite medical centers like now and we are talking rural. The hospital was an hour from where I was staying.

Your situation Rusty is obviously different. Animals do carry a lot of bacteria on their teeth which can be problematic to people and as we get older our immune system doesn’t respond as fully as it did when we were young

Well, again I surely hope that you do okay. scary it is~ hugs

I think had I had this situation in the current medical scenario, I would have been milked for every cent insurance would pour out and I would be plied with meds. I am not a fan of current medical regimes nor pharmaceuticals as most here know
