ATLANTA Georgia's Democratic candidate for governor told more than 1,000 attendees at the party's state convention Saturday that Democrats' fate in November rests with people who don't usually vote.
"In the areas of town we pass by and write off because no one there votes; we've gotta stop the car and go back," Stacey Abrams told the crowd in Atlanta.
Driving turnout was a major theme of the event and has long been a staple for Abrams in her bid to become Georgia's first Democratic governor in 15 years and the nation's first-ever black female state chief executive.
"We need to find those who gave up on us a long time ago, and we need to give them a reason to believe again," she said.

How do we get these people to the polls?
How the Hell is she going to balance the state's budget?
I've said it many times. Democrat politicians use their office as a platform for leftist virtue signaling and to move on to the next, higher seat.
They have and shown no obligation to the very people who elected them.
If this woman gets elected, all she's going to do is travel the country stumping for other Democrats and giving speeches to groups like Planned Parenthood.
How the Hell is she going to balance the state's budget?
Maybe that's why she needs the governor job. She sells favors in office and pays off some debt. Maybe she hands out no-show jobs to the relatives and friends who then kick back some bucks to mama. She brings in so much extra cash she has enough to support a $1000/day crack habit. Works for most democrats.
I am in GA and haven’t voted Dem since the 90s so I am her target voter. Stop calling me racist, stop threatening to burn history books and stop attacking law enforcement. Howboutit?
Hell will freeze over before this Confederate-hating, baby-killing, homo-loving uber liberal will be elected governor of Georgia. Aint happening.
Just tell them youll give them free stuff Stacy. Thats the dimocrat way.
I live near downtown Atlanta, the most liberal part of GA. I don’t sense a lot of enthusiasm for Abrams like I did four years ago when Jimmy Carter’s grandson ran for Governor and Sam Nunn’s daughter ran for the Senate.
Her $200,000 debt may be a factor. Intown Atlanta had a big property tax hike this year, lots of hipster grumbling about it. Abrams owes $50K to the IRS. How do you let Abrams near the state coffers.
Exactly.
If Abrams wins, the GOP will probably still hold the GA Legislature, they may be a check on her.
