You must be reading fake news from somewhere. This IS NOT the safest time on this earth, not by a long, long shot. War at an all time low?? We have been at war for over 17 years?? What planet are you on? There are nearly over 100 wars, border skirmishes, conflicts around the world. The Red Chinese and the Russians, along with the islamics would like nothing better than to catch us thinking all is well. Sorry, pal, I don’t care if you agree or not, I certainly don’t agree with your fairy tail land.

1000 years ago (and before), the average life span was 30 years, without anything remotely resembling modern medicine, and a typical day was nothing but backbreaking labor.

200 years ago? The average world lifespan is up to 35 (whoopee), modern conveniences are still nowhere to be found, and vast majority of people are still involved in labor intensive food production. Sanitation? Don't make me laugh....

100 years ago? World War One and the Spanish Flue. 100 million dead. Fun times.

The mid-20th Century? Stalin. Hitler. Tojo. Mao Zedong. All told, 150 million deaths.

Today: The crime rate has been plummeting for decades. My chances of experiencing personal violence is virtually nil. The accumulated knowledge of humanity is at my fingertips. I can eat good, healthy food of any style on Earth. I can fly virtually anywhere in the world at a moment's notice, and be there in 24 hours.

So when exactly in history were things so much better than now?
