Sarah Palin, former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential candidate, called her former running mate Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) a maverick and a fighter in a statement after his death Saturday afternoon. Today we lost an American original. Sen. John McCain was a maverick and a fighter, never afraid to stand for his beliefs. John never took the easy path in life and through sacrifice and suffering he inspired others to serve something greater than self, she said.
John McCain was my friend. I will remember the good times. My family and I send prayers for Cindy and the McCain family.

She’s so classy.
McCain didn’t deserve her.
You betcha!
Class act there.
She deserved better.
HOLY MOLY. YOU TALK ABOUT CLASSY.
Pure class. As expected.
John Wayne Gacy was an American original also. Just sayin’.
Non committal as to a good or bad original. Pretty sure which way I’m leaning.
Breitbart's Story on Sarah's facebook statement last night.
Speak for yourself, Sarah.
We can also mourn the passing of Joseph Stalin: a true original. Tell me I have no class. I don’t care.
She doesn’t say an original what.
I still wonder how she was able to speak highly of McCain when his minions in the campaign threw her under the bus even during the 2008 campaign. McCain himself didn’t like the idea she was overshadowing him and she was the VP pick. Now wonder he hates Trump for the same obvious reasons.
Agreed. I don’t agree with her gracious comments, but I admire her class.
She’s a classy broad. :)
She can always be counted on to stay classy and say the correct thing.
Unlike me, who can only think of how well watered the gravesit will be. Don’t like that attitude? Tough. I don’t like what John McTurd did to this country. Nothing personal.
I am wondering if’n the demoncraps are going to attend the McCain memorial and have themselves a little campaign party.
I have to agree with you...more than I could do standing in her shoes...
Both Sarah Palin and I will be forever grateful to John McCain for choosing Sarah as his VP candidate, and bringing her to international attention. It’s true that there is a straight line from Sarah to Donald Trump. Sarah did much of the groundwork, is reminded people that conservatism is a valid belief system and that it is not dead in America.
That, plus being thankful for his service, his perseverance is the nicest thing I could say about the late Mr. McCain.
McCain would have bellyflopped even worse in 2008 if it wasn't for her.
And all she got from McCain and his handlers was flak.
