When I heard employer’s statement regarding E-Verify (a second time) what I understood is he called the SS and somehow used their system then claims that he learned that the E-Verify system was totally different from the SS system. I think it was a deliberate dumbing down on his part. However...would the murder committed in Mexico show up on a US based criminal background check? Will be eager to read a writeup on this from Judicial Watch...they will know.

Thanks for the update. I agree - Judicial Watch seems very reliable, and they're doing great work (I wish the process was faster!).
