The de Blasio administration is guilting parents in ultra-liberal Park Slope into swallowing a radical public school diversity plan suggesting that those who disagree with the scheme are akin to white supremacists in the Deep South.
After a series of workshops and meetings over the summer, the city is poised to green-light a drastic revamping of District 15 middle-school admissions aimed at spurring racial and socioeconomic integration.
Parents say they support diversity, but some are afraid of being called bigoted if they question or criticize the plan which would eliminate all admission criteria based on academic achievement and reserve 52 percent of seats for low-income, immigrant and homeless kids...

“My 1500 or so high school had one black guy. He was a great guy. Everyone liked him.
I have a decent healthy respect for Blacks.”
You mean that one black guy didn’t beat up everybody and rape all the girls?
Well, there you have it folks, a first hand account that you have nothing to fear from diversity!
My mention of that wasn't intended to infer any such thing. Why would you twist a statement of fact into such a perverse meaning?
I attended a school with roughly 1500 students. One was Black. He was a good guy. That's a fact, not a submission to take meaning from.
Does everything need the ‘sarc’ tag? I thought it was pretty obvious.
Liberals play with snakes and then get bit. No sympathy here.
Well, then they can get introduced to the joys of “Restorative Justice”. Where the predator and the prey get to meet in a Kumbaya session to discuss how each should compromise to eliminate the misunderstanding that made them both victims of a conflict.
Maybe it was Beagle8U. I didn’t see it that way, but you know what you intended so I apologize.
Thank you for the correction.
Yeah, it was pure sarc.
Okay, thanks again...
I appreciate it.
Who would do that to their kids? Who?
(Don't you dare answer with the truth, you racist!)
Libtards think Republicans are their greatest opponent, but it will be former Libtards— as a certain percentage of these parents are about to become— who will pull down the centre pole which causes the circus tent of left wing idiocy to collapse in on itself.
Happened to me in 1969 in Queens. The city was already busing loads of black children into the little public school in our neighborhood. I went to the Catholic school down the street.
That year they chose a small portion of kids from my neighborhood to take the subway to the all black public high school in East NY. I was on the list. I was so happy that I made it into the Catholic high school in Rockaway and that my father was able to afford it.
Geez, Calvin...no, that’s not what happened here in NY. Wow, how stupid were they??
Regards,
Yup, same thing in 79. Wanted to bus us from Cardozo HS in Bayside to Andrew Jackson HS in Jamaica.
I found this little tidbit about it on Wikipedia:
In 1977, the NAACP sued the Board of Education in Federal District Court for the lack of integration in the school, accusing the Board of intentionally segregating the school “to keep other schools predominantly white.”[6][20][36][37] On May 16, 1978, Judge John Francis Dooling Jr. ordered the Board of Education to create a plan to integrate the school within 45 days of the ruling, to be implemented for the 1978-1979 academic year;[6][38][39][40] this deadline was suspended in June of that year.[40] The United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit overturned this decision in April 1979.[6][41]
Regards,
PS: The deadline was suspended because there was almost no one left to bus.
If they think the parents are upset, wait till the teachers in these posh schools find out what it’s like to deal with a class that’s 52% “under-privileged.”
you got it...
de Blasio
Parents, time to grow a pair. Or move.
My neighborhood diversity in the 70’s was 50/50 but the public schools were horrible. My parents fortunately sent me to Catholic middle school, age 10 to 14. I was the only non-Catholic student in the school. And extremely shy. It wasn’t a walk in the park but much preferable to public school.Fast forward to today and that same Catholic school, plus the few remaining ones still operating, are mostly filled with minorities. Most white Libs won’t send their kids to religious schools. Minorities get tuition breaks. I predict 50% won’t care about this plan and the other still have Prep/Private schools as an option.
bluerose, you are quite right about this — far, FAR fewer people in NYC would send their kids to a religious school today. I failed to take that into consideration. I concur with your prediction.
