You would be hard-pressed to find anybody in Dodge County, Georgia who does not stand for the national anthem or take a knee to pray. Thats just how it is.
So when the Dodge County High School cheerleaders started selling T-shirts that read, In Dodge County, we stand for the flag, kneel for the cross, nobody thought it would cause a controversy.
But, sweet mercy, did it cause a stink.
Dodge County School Board member Shirley Ikedionwu posted a scathing message on Facebook calling the shirts politically divisive.
This shirt is not only one-sided but offensive, she wrote. I cant imagine how our children would feel entering a place that is supposed to be welcoming and accepting of students from all walks of life, beliefs, and perspectives but instead, they are faced with this type of exclusionary message.
Proceeds from the patriotic shirts were going to help fund cheerleading competitions. But that did not seem to satisfy the school board members anger.
Ikedionwu wrote that she personally contacted school system administrators to voice her concerns.
At this point, the shirt will no longer be sold, she declared.
But thats when local residents and businesses got involved and decided to sell the T-shirts off campus.
Im standing because it has the United States flag on it and the cross. Those are two things I will back any day of the week, said Nikki Mullis, the manager of White Hat Auto in Eastland.
Mullis tells the Todd Starnes Radio Show that people are calling to purchase shirts from across the world. On Thursday they shipped three shirts to Afghanistan.
This aint just Georgia anymore, she said. We are a community that when something happens we are all together.

That’s a roger, Rodger
It (U.S. flag) stands for the hurt of black people getting killed, beat by police officers and getting off with it, one resident told television station WMAZ. So therefore, we as black people, some of us have taken that, to us, thats what it looks like.
There was a time we were asked to believe liberals only wanted to banish the Confederate flag.
Now we find their real goal is to dishonor and do away with the U.S. flag. They hate not just southern history, but all American history (before November 2008).
The left wants a conversation as long as it’s one sided. Their side. Can’t think of anything more undemocratic. It’s a sure sign of fascism. Under fascism, there is no left or right. It is one sided and you must obey. There is no tolerance to opposition.
Only to those looking for an excuse to be offended.
I’m offended by people not standing for the flag. So there.
Didn’t even have to guess. Another guest of honor on the Day of the Rope.
It read to me like Shirley Icandindu (nuffin)
If thats the school board, Im guessing there are a lot of 6-1 votes.
How would a tee shirt bearing “Kneeling is paying homage to their masters” be received?
Divisive: Anything a liberal doesn't agree with.
Surely I kid u not
How are the American flag and the Cross divisive, exclusionary and offensive?
Don’t like it, don’t buy it.
The shirts (supposedly) represent the killing and oppression of black people. That is the interpretation by some of the blacks in the community and therefore everyone is expected to bow down and apologize, regardless of how screwed up the idea is.
SO, which one is Shirley? (sarc)
Shirley Ikedionwu should be tarred, feathered and run out of town.
We sell a t-shirt with a flag that says, “if this flag offends you, I’ll help you pack”.
Anyone offended by the USA flag needs to leave.

Please note that incitement of a crime is a criminal offense in itself and discredits this website and all of its members. I don't think that is what you meant to do, but we need to choose our words carefully.
Maybe we should make a new flag, the one we have still has 7 states missing. Do we have enough room for the missing 7 stars? What ever the country did 150 years ago is no longer anything but history. Most of everyone today has “0” connection with the wrongs of the past. So much whining, so little substance, just another anti free speech BS. OMG, its also a school with an American Indian as a mascot? Ohhhh the sensitivity, now I feel the hurt. That school would be shut down if it was in NYC. s/
The hypocrite probably spends every Sunday morning screaming her head off in a Missionary Baptist or COGIC church. But then, it’s not chrstianity when they do it . . . is it?
