An Arizona father faces a second-degree murder charge after he allegedly hit, stomped and kicked a man who tried to get into a bathroom stall his teenage daughter was using.
Melvin Harris, 40, is being held in jail on a $100,000 bond for allegedly killing a man police identified as Leon Leevon Armstrong at a Phoenix QuikTrip convenience store in early August.
Harris fiancee, Diana Jackson, wonders when shell see him again. She says despite the murder charge against him, Harris did nothing wrong.

REMORSEFUL?????????
For WHAT????
——Keep your mouth shut. Idiot.——
big words for a fool...
You can’t... But what you shared just goes to show that we as humans are no longer private property but public community property. We are no longer allowed to protect the life and limb of our own selves or our offspring in a very natural and justified manor as it should be.
Current society has now insisted that the right thing to do is just become a collective victim of that very same society good or bad...
Seriously... Thank you... More of these unjust cases need to be exposed. The father administered proper swift justice as it should be and this should not even be questioned. Because it is questioned it gives leave for more criminals to do the same, starting exactly 1 minute from now.
You did good here and please do not let those who don’t see it the same bother you...
Re: “Finally, how would I know what “Everyone on this thread” would agree to?”
I assumed you would answer for yourself - which you did.
You have burnished your argument with several facts that were not in the linked article.
Was there just one restroom? Was there just one stall? Did the dead man observe the woman go into the restroom first, or did he not know she was in there?
You listed the criminal offenses of the dead man. What is the criminal record of the father? Why didn’t the father call the Police when the store employees did not?
Why should I believe the dead man punched first? Did the father threaten the dead man?
The imaginary “gun” I invented for my Comment is really superfluous to my basic argument. Any “weapon,” including fists, will do.
My Bottom Line - I did not read anything in the posted article that makes me think the dead man did not have a legal right to defend himself with lethal force against the violent father.
There is a lot we don’t know about this event even thought it was a couple days ago.
But as I understand it the beating took place after they left the store. The father saw the
man and persued to beat him up. The man was taken to a hospital where he later died.
The father supposedly told the security guard/store workers if they didn’t take care
of the situation he would. If true then that doesn’t help his case in the courts, imo.
Whatever, fine him $2, he can mail it in.
I’m clearly biased in favor of the father. If the deceased so much as took a swing at the father as stated, his intentions would not be good in any way for the daughter. As far as I’d be concerned the father reacted in the flight-or-flight moment for the safety of his daughter.
I would say, As a father, I am the judge and jury when it comes to my kids and grandkids or spouse. Not the state...
Whoever, would have to deal with me in the end. They can’t exicute me, I’m too old and would die of natural causes before they could get around to it.
I guess it would set a better moral example to beat him to death BEFORE the incident had happened.:)
Just in case, because he looked like a perv ready to go off at any minute like a gun does.
Justified homicide and crimes of passion are still justifiable in the state of Az. Until a case like this comes around to set future precedent. This precedent we do not want in Az. These precedents are why Ca, Illinois, NY and other blue states are so full of helpless victims and criminality.
Too bad he didn’t do it in Texas.

So sad for the child but it would be so satisfying to forme to beat her attacker to death or to just squeeze his neck until he went limp as a dish rag.
Hogs. Feed the body to hogs. No remains. No DNA. Or a bathtub of quick lime and wssh it all down the drain.
I’m pretty sure that the pedophile SOB just slipped and the father might have accidentally made contact with him as he was trying to assist and then stumbled over the victim in his haste to get help. Looks like a pure accident to me.
This is Arizona. I doubt the prosecutor will do anything more than the bare minimum, and only then because he has to. And the defense counsel is going to have one of the easiest jobs ever. So assume acquittal.
This being said, I don’t know if GoFundMe permits accounts under circumstances like this, but if there is any kind of fund established for this gentleman and his family, I imagine they will be prosperous for the rest of their lives.
No, I have not "burnished your argument with several facts that were not in the linked article", Here is the cut and paste from the linked article:
Police say Harris admitted to punching Armstrong but said the man swung at him first.
Armstrong had a criminal history of shoplifting, trespassing and obstructing police.
Was there just one restroom? Was there just one stall? Did the dead man observe the woman go into the restroom first, or did he not know she was in there?
I did not post any comment or argument containing references to restrooms, stalls, who followed or observed who going where. These are posts by OTHER FReepers, not I, Navy Patriot.
I assumed you would answer for yourself - which you did.
And I assumed you would attribute OTHER FReepers posts to me - which you did.
At this point I will point out that I have made no argument for or against Mr. Harris' actions at all, but you have accused me of making the arguments, comments and posts that OTHER FReepers have made on this thread.
I have made only three comments, they are: Very sad; Trial by Jury; and my opinion that Harris looked remorseful in his photo.
Your comment: The flip side of the coin.... is an an entirely different and fictitious scenario where you supply the facts the way that you want them and make suppositions based on that construct.
Of course you are so busy trying to reassign comments and fabricate facts that you design a very poor construct, and I shoot it down with logical supposition using the actual information in the linked article you said wasn't there.
Why should I believe the dead man punched first?
Because it is an an entirely different and fictitious scenario supposition, and there the opposite supposition has equal validity.
The imaginary gun I invented for my Comment is really superfluous to my basic argument. Any weapon, including fists, will do.
Sorry, you're stuck with the gun and it's consequences because it is an an entirely different and fictitious scenario sloppily designed by you.
The dead guy has a pretty poor advocate in you
My Bottom Line - I did not read anything in the posted article that makes me think the dead man did not have a legal right to defend himself with lethal force against the violent father.
And in your haste to repudiate me you failed to notice that I never advocated or argued for or against either party or joined in bashing either party while you torpedoed your guy.
It was you imaginary: The flip side of the coin....
I believe this is the Go Fund Me page for Mr Harris: https://www.gofundme.com/5yytwg0
I would prefer a criminal charge, a trial, a conviction, a long sentence in a federal prison where child molesters don’t fair very well...or live long...
vigilante justice is simply wrong...that rule of law thing is hard to get around..
The hero father saved many more young girls from contact with this turd.
The "authoritays", who have been dropping the ball left and right these days (the Parkland shooter and many, many others) don't deserve the benefit of the doubt when it comes to taking out the trash.
From what I read in the article, I would. We don't know the guy was a pedophile. We don't know the configuration of the rest room(s). As one other person pointed out, he might not have known the girl was in there. He might have thought the door was stuck and the stall was empty.
We do know that the rest of the incident took place outside the store. The father drove over to the guy and got out of the car to confront him. The father wasn't defending or protecting anyone.
People fall into traffic all the time.
