Cardinal Raymond Burke has called for “open recognition” of the Catholic church’s homosexual culture in light of recent revelations of sexual abuse. “I believe that there needs to be an open recognition that we have a very grave problem of a homosexual culture in the Church,” Burke said in an interview Thursday, “especially among the clergy and the hierarchy, that needs to be addressed honestly and efficaciously.”
he former head of the church’s equivalent of the Supreme Court said it was already “clear after the studies following the 2002 sexual abuse crisis that most of the acts of abuse were in fact homosexual acts committed with adolescent young men.”
“There was a studied attempt to either overlook or to deny this,” he said, referring to the mainstream media cover-up of the homosexual nature of the abuse as well as such denial within the church itself.

I have read of case studies within the psychology community that prove decisively a very close relationship between homosexuality and pedophilia. These studies were back in my younger years, so without a doubt the modern psychologists have rewritten the studies.

I first knew about it in the early 70's. Had an older male friend go late into the night with a spiritual discussion. Lots of love in the room. He didn't try anything, but was just laying a foundation for trust. Later, it all came out what he was doing.
I came to understand the local seminary was infested with it, and for many priests, it all starts when they are seminarians.
My reading of the New Testament shows no requirement for priest not to marry and live normal lives. Paul calls it an individual choice lead by God for that person.
I want the Catholic Church to prevail because it’s important as an institution historically when it has more often than not a positive one

It does sound that way, and it’s about time someone dared to state the obvious.
Even if you exclude the argument that homosexuals are more prone to pedophilia than heterosexuals, there are still the logistical problems presented by homosexuality:
Many of our social firewalls against sexual abuse center around separating the genders during high risk situations. For example, the convention of providing seperate male and female bathrooms, the policy of having a woman nurse present when a male doctor or dentist administers anesthesia to a female patient, the practice of female prison guards for female inmates and visa versa - female scout leaders for Girl Scouts and male scout leaders for Boy Scouts.
Homosexuality obviously renders these conventions and firewalls completely ineffective, so it is logical to conclude that the risk of abuse rises in the presence of homosexuality.

I was raised catholic and became an Evangelical when I was about 18,I see why people leave.
Frankly, thinking people should be running from the catholic church without even getting into the doctrinal issues. The absolute failure to protect children without exception is unforgivable.
Why doesn’t the Pope release Priests from their vows of celibacy recognizing that sex is part of man’s fundamental being as God created him. You would attract a whole new segment of society to become Priests.

The major sex abuse scandals first hit hard in the early 2000’s. At that time our diocese cleaned house at our parish. Our lead priest/monsignor was prosecuted, defrocked and eventually excommunicated from the Catholic church. Before the scandals broke our parish was the largest in the diocese, membership was at least 8,000.
Our priest was a homosexual pedophile with at least two dozen male victims who came forward. Our parish was at first in deep denial, then wracked with pain and despair as we realized the accusations were true.
To this day this proven pedophile ex-priest sees himself as a victim. He keeps claiming he is innocent, says he’s only guilty of “bad judgement.” He actually had the nerve to start his own church less than half a mile from our parish. He is an absolute disgrace.
where ever you gather men and boys, one can expect some homosexuality....
but when you get the top people who are of that inclination or try to protect other homosexuals to the detriment of the Church and its people, then its a BIG PROBLEM....
the Catholic church has big $$$$$ so its going to be a target no matter what...
I think it started its exponential decline when in desperation for vocations in the early 60's they admitted homosexual men to the priesthood.....
at least the priesthood would draw more heterosexuals and perhaps, eventually, the homosexual cabal will be in the minority and perhaps, eliminated completely...
Vigilence, I totally disagree. The overwhelming percentage of priest abusers are homosexual PEDOPHILES. Allowing priests to marry will not get rid of the homosexual pedophilia problem.
