Cardinal Raymond Burke has called for open recognition of the Catholic churchs homosexual culture in light of recent revelations of sexual abuse. I believe that there needs to be an open recognition that we have a very grave problem of a homosexual culture in the Church, Burke said in an interview Thursday, especially among the clergy and the hierarchy, that needs to be addressed honestly and efficaciously.
he former head of the churchs equivalent of the Supreme Court said it was already clear after the studies following the 2002 sexual abuse crisis that most of the acts of abuse were in fact homosexual acts committed with adolescent young men.
There was a studied attempt to either overlook or to deny this, he said, referring to the mainstream media cover-up of the homosexual nature of the abuse as well as such denial within the church itself.

Off topic, but so that you know, “dogmatically approving” the canon of scripture does not mean the canon was different before. The Church makes pronouncements like that when something is questioned, not before, when it is a common belief.
The reason for the seal of confession is simple: if the priest snitches, no one would be going to confession and be cleansed of his sin. So, yes, Jesus wants it.
Where exactly did he say that? Chapter and Verse if youre able.

You’ve been on these threads for years and still are surprised that the Church wrote and canonized the scripture and not the other way around?
And now we are back to the beginning.
You still have yet to prove that Jesus meant the modern day organization calling itself Roman Catholic.
Where exactly did Jesus say his priests should conceal crimes?
L
Off topic, but Jamnia “codified” it by the Jews and for the Jews. The Church was working on the canon of the Old Testament till the African Councils in early 5 c.
GOD tells us what is true. All claims to truth must be compared to what the Lord teaches, not any human institution.
If an org teaches contrary to Jesus and the Apostles, it is no church.
I agree with your suspicions that Benedict was forced out by the gay Deep State in the Church, with likely help from bad elements outside the Church.
Lets get back on topic.
Where EXACTLY did Jesus say that Confession was secret and His priests were forbidden from reporting crimes against children to authorities?
Chapter and Verse, please.
L
I don’t have to prove anything to you. You want to be with Jesus, come. You don’t, stay.
The Holy Catholic Apostolic Church is not a “human institution”.
It doesn't have to be my kid. All these pederast priests should be defrocked at a minimum and molesters and rapists jailed for a long time.
Ok....glad to hear you say this. Thought you were going to suggest as some of your fellow RCs this mess be handled internally.
To get a sin absolved one has to come and confess it without fear.
So Jesus never commanded His priests to remain silent when they were told of horrific crimes against children. Thats something the RCC made up out of thin air.
Right?

The Holy Catholic Apostolic Church is not a human institution.

Two words: Prove it.
You're arguing with Roman Catholic sources.
[comments mine]
The Tridentine decree from which the above list is extracted was the first infallible and effectually promulgated pronouncement on the Canon, addressed to the Church Universal.

[If it's the first infallible pronouncement on the Canon, then there were no other infallible lists.]
From another Roman Catholic site....admittedly this is a blog site so take it for what it's worth.
(1) Florence announces the canon in unambiguous terms, but it doesnt do it in the form of a dogmatic definition, so technically, it doesnt carry the weight of an infallible proclaimation.

It wasn't until Trent that Roman Catholicism dogmatically declared their canon.
What I find interesting about this is Rome had a chance to add to the canon so many of the books they rely upon for a lot of their "tradition".
The Didache
The Protoevangelium of James
and many others.
I've always wondered why they didn't......but that they didn't should be telling for the Roman Catholic.
It is because these were not received by the early church.
You don’t have to prove anything to me, do you?
1 Peter 3:15 says different.
Though this reaction you gave suggests that you don’t have any proof.
Wrong. I gave you the scripture and the reason for the seal of confession. Deal with it.
Yeah we're surprised....because that isn't how history records how we got the canon.
Men, moved by the Spirit, wrote the various books of the Bible we have.
The early ekklesia received these. For the NT....only the 27 were received and accepted by the early church.
And what's really interesting none of the following are in any of those writings:
perpetual virginity of Mary
the Immaculate Conception
Mary recognized as "mother of God"
no admonitions to pray to Mary or rely upon Mary for salvation or answered prayers
no papacy
no clerical celebacy
no Mass as practiced by Rome
no penance
no confidential confessions as practiced by Rome
no priesthood
no mandate to use Latin as the only language for "official" documents of the church
and on and on and on and on......
Matthew 16:18
