About a year ago we hosted for one night a middle-aged French couple biking around the world. They had covered most of Europe, a lot of the Middle East and Far East but to my knowledge they had not visited any of the Stans or Africa. We live in California and they had come from the East Coast, wandering through the United States, and were going to continue all the way to Tierra del Fuego, after which they would take a break to spend time with their grown daughter in France, then return to South America to bike up the east coast of the continent. I held my breath as they progressed through Mexico and Central America but they made it. We still get occasional updates from them.
