KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Johnson County will accept nearly 1,500 provisional ballots either in full or in part, including dozens cast by unaffiliated voters who were incorrectly told by poll workers to cast provisional ballots.
The ballots could tip the balance in the GOP primary for governor. Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach and Gov. Jeff Colyer were separated by a mere 110 votes as of early Monday.
The Johnson County Board of Canvassers voted unanimously Monday to fully accept 1,176 ballots based on the recommendation of the county's election commissioner, Ronnie Metsker.
This included 57 ballots from unaffiliated voters who were incorrectly told on Election Day to cast provisional ballots. Kansas law restricts voters from switching parties on Election Day, but unaffiliated voters are allowed to declare a party at the polls.

Lost ballots suddenly discovered. A Democrat speciality.
The left is stealing Kansas right before our eyes, and nothing is being done about it.
And they’re soiling their undies over Russian meddling.
You realize this is the Republican primary, right?
Don’t cloud the issue with facts!
Why are non-Republican voters voting in a closed Republican primary? The scumbag officials that allowed this should be tortured by ISIS.
Sorry didn’t catch that. Ten lashes for me.
You realize the GOPe is stealing the vote from Kobach right?
It is the law.
These are provisional ballots. They've always been there. And it's the Republican primary.
Johnson County is the most populous county in Kansas.
It tilts pretty far left for Kansas.
The most populous City in Johnson County is Overland Park, which is far left.
It borders Kansas City, Missouri.
Kansas law allows unaffiliated voters to declare a party on election day. Can't switch from one party to another, but if you aren't a registered Republican or Democrat then you can do so at the polling place.
Remember Thad Cochran?
Colyer had a pretty healthy lead against Kobach in Johnson County. I’d say that this is over. W for Colyer.
Let’s not call it quite yet.
“But, what Kobach will lose in Johnson County, he will likely make up for with Sedgwick, Miami, and Leavenworth Counties.
On Wednesday, another round of counties will be counted, including Shawnee County, which encompasses Topeka, and Wyandotte County, the region where Kobach once lived and won by a wide margin on election day.”
Well if they register as Republican on election day then they are no longer unaffiliated, are they? The title of the article is misleading.
Notice PDJT is saying nothing about this???
I really don’t know why not and I’m not being sarcastic.
The problem is that there will be very few provisional votes in the rest of the state, most counties will have a hand full. Johnson County is the big dog in this state and in any other state it would be a Democrat county. Colyer will have a big margin in Johnson County, and that will probably be enough to keep the other counties to overcome Colyer's lead.
Not the President’s role. The courts if anything.
