Turkey’s Lira Currency Crumbles as Trump Turns the Screws After Erdogan Double-Cross
Breitbart ^ | August 12,2018 | John J. Xenakis

Posted on 08/13/2018 6:16:56 AM PDT by Hojczyk

Trump met Erdogan at a Nato meeting early in June. Their discussions were very friendly, and after they ended, Trump thought they had made a deal: Trump would ask Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu to release a Turkish citizen, Ebru Ozkan, arrested because of alleged terrorist links to Hamas, and then Turkey would release pastor Andrew Brunson, who was arrested in Turkey on October 2016 on charges of espionage, which the US considers are bogus charges.

So on July 14, Trump called Netanyahu and requested that Ozkan be released, and she was released the next day. But Brunson was not released, and Turkish officials said that no such deal had ever been made. Instead, they began piling more demands that would have to be met in exchange for the release of Brunson, including the extradition of Fethullah Gülen, whom Erdogan blames for the attempted coup in Turkey in 2016, but without any evidence.

Needless to say, Trump was infuriated, and this led to a first round of sanctions in July, and then Friday’s announcement of more sanctions. The Trump administration is now saying that Brunson must be released, to resolve this situation. Furthermore, reports indicate that because Trump believes he was double-crossed, the administration is also requiring that all further conditions and demands from Turkey be put into writing, to avoid future misunderstandings.

Trump is now involved in highly contentious sanctions disputes with Turkey, Russia, Iran and China. Any one of these situations could spiral into something much larger, including an actual war. Also, since the global financial system is currently one huge Ponzi scheme, one of these situations could also trigger a chain reaction leading to a global financial crisis. While only a small part of Turkey is in Europe, They have a very strategic location controlling the Turkish Straits, Bosporus, Sea of Marmara, Dardanelles... that link the Black and Aegean Seas to the Med.

They have the worlds 10 largest military, bigger than most EU nations. They would be fully susceptible to Russia if the NATO nations did not protect them.

Basically, they are playing both ends against the middle, geographically speaking, which they have always controlled.

Bad deal to begin with.

This is Exhibit A of why many Trump supporters love him and his critics don’t get it. You SHOULD be playing hardball against these horrible people. Hit them where it hurts (and when they’re vulnerable) until they cry uncle and you get them to back down. How many administrations in a row have we had people who just go along to get along? Stop putting up with nonsense from tinpot retrograde weirdos. Too many people are fed up with that.

Problem with Cyprus is there is a great big British military base there. I don’t think Erdogan wants to mess with that.

Gulen will return to rule Turkey when Erdogan's been dragged out and executed. If the military hadn't lost its nerve, Erdogan would have been executed the first time he tried to take power. Thanks Hojczyk.

I don’t think that anyone can talk to him anymore

He can talk to his son:

“Are you at home, son?”
“Yes.”
“They carried out an operation. Their homes are being searched now… take everything in the house out.”
“There is your money in the safe.”
“That's what I'm saying.”

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-30492348

But Erdogan got this right:

The 4.5 million dollars in cash found in shoeboxes in the house of the former general manager of the state-run Halkbank is not the bank’s money, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has claimed in an interview with al-Jazeera.

“What I understand about corruption is this: Are the state’s coffers being robbed or not? The money found in the shoebox is not money that has been taken or robbed from Halkbank,” Erdogan said in the interview broadcast on Feb. 10.

It was bribes from Iran provided by Babak Zanjani.

I'd say one thing for the Brit's, they got attitude and the will to do their foreign policy, at least in the past.

As I was doing some research some time ago, I was surprised to discover that England just 1.4 times larger than Florida and yet at the beginning of WW2 it was the world's superpower! That old saying that "The sun does not sets on the British Empire" was true as they has colonies everywhere.

Now that poor place is overrun with muslims and they have been cowed into being just an ancient tourist attraction. Every time I see a picture of that huge Ferris Wheel in the middle of London, I just wistfully think to myself "How has the mighty fallen!".

Not so!

England’s status as a superpower had ebbed massively at the turn of the century.

That was why the massive criminal effort was made before WW1 to restore them. That was the reason why TR interfered in the election to put Globalist Wilson & Co. into office.

Hi.

“I find it hard to believe the collapse of the Turkish lira could ignite a global financial crisis.”

You’re correct.

Even the collapse of their bond markets won’t cause a global financial crisis.

In my not so humble opinion.

A particularly stupid provocation, motivated by greed and a gross misunderstanding of the trading partner, who now is the one adversary that Turkey really doesn't need. Worse, who now will even deal with Erdogan, having seen Trump get betrayed?

It should be recalled that the Trans-Anatolia Natural Gas Pipeline is being constructed to bring Russian gas across Turkey and into Europe. The U.S. was a supporter. Was.
