This is a dangerous precedent that can be used against any ideology, left or right
Across the board in what appears to be a highly-coordinated effort to silence the message behind Infowars and Alex Jones, most major social media, backbone utilities associated with our web site and video platforms have launched unprecedented account bans and suspensions on virtually all of our channels.
Regardless of what you think of me, and what you have heard indirectly through third-party sources, you are clearly witnessing a 21st century purge of an ideology.
And even if you dont agree with our message that everyone should exercise their right to question the status quo, you should be very concerned about whats happening.
Because this ideology that is now under attack is the same ideology that played a pivotal role in founding this great nation: challenging the establishment systems with independent ideas that encourage new debates and discussions.
For more than a year, we have witnessed the mainstream news media and Democratic groups tell us that the manipulation of social media could turn an election.
By their own admission, social media would be the most viable option to alter the course of the nation, influence millions of people, and shut down free speech and personal expression that questions the status quo.
We have been told that one of the greatest threats to our democracy is the manipulation of the information that we receive on social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
Now, these same groups that have been telling us that free speech must be defended against those who seek to control it on our news feeds, have launched a full-scale war on the free speech and information that they disagree with.
There is no question that large social media companies have become the nations premiere source of information, referring hundreds of millions to news and information.
Although these groups are private entities, their scale has achieved them a monopoly on the free flow of information.
Much like the FCC rules that the airwaves and cable should be equally accessible to all in the public trust, these modes of communication should be equally open to the same access, and not subject to control by those who may choose to disagree with the information itself. Is a different opinion enough to silence an entire ideology?
I do not claim to always be right. But the accusations leveled at me are distortions of the truth and have been used systematically to impeach my character.
But this coordinated action by the establishment to silence me has only awakened a new resolve in those who now see more clearly than ever how the establishment systems will go to any length to shut down free speech and information that questions the status quo.
This is a turning point for our nation. Will you rally behind the principles of free speech, or will you concede to having your ability to access new ideas and information restricted and controlled by those who believe you cannot think for yourself?
If we allow this level of censorship to continue, how long before it becomes normalized?
How long before its not Alex Jones and Infowars being shut down on major platforms, but any ideology that disagrees with the establishment status quo? We must rally behind the principles that founded this great nation, and not allow deep censorship to become normalized and accepted.
Don’t all of those platforms have ways for an individual to block, mute or remove from their sight, anything they don’t want to see or read?
They should be doing as they advertise and leave it up to this individual to maintain their own censorship.
Apples and oranges difference.
The social media sites banning our voices are the ones where most of the younger generations are getting their information from. These are LARGE MAINSTREAM HUBS. Some could even call it mainstream media now.
Just today I had to try to plant seeds of knowledge in a young person who has NEVER HEARD of FAST and FURIOUS!!! He thought it was just a movie! HE was totally surprised when he started reading about it from my encouragement.
Before F&F was KNOWN what was going on, some was calling it a conspiracy theory! And the truth about it was being squashed. It is still being drowned out. And justice hasn’t even began yet. And we have to wonder if it ever will.
Anyways, we have to insist the new self-made news outlet giants (yes, these media sites) that so many use for news sources allow free journalism and opinion pieces. Alex Jones, Diamond and Silk, etc. tip of the iceberg for us.
>> Just imagine if ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN MSNBC ...
>> Can AT&T turn off my phones because ...
When will “you people” begin to complain that Comcast has you by the balls while shoving malicious news down your throat? That’s in reference to NBC, MSNBC
Okay, maybe you’re not a Comcast subscriber. But what about Disney? It owns ABC/News while coercing cable subscription revenue.
And then there’s ATT which will eventually own CNN. “Can you hear” CNN **** in your ear now?
This monopoly on information is NEVER discussed. But instead, FReepers, and others, continually lament the assclowns in front of the “news” camera.
Regarding rktman’s understandable defense of Twitter — having the right to arbitrarily discriminate — we’re unfortunately beyond the point of fair play. Twitter is hostile to the marketplace it otherwise enjoys through its incorporation. Corporations have responsibilities and limits beyond the average citizen.
Amen.
Hopefully, will get some more sunlight into the real world of economy education. That is, when able to put that degree to work or get position that moves into a tax with-holding group. Presently at level where they think ‘the rich’ gets all the breaks and not paying their ‘fair share’ (laf/ugh).
It befuddles me why some people even think they should have a say over other people’s money. They think someone being rich means they should support the whole world with their filthy money.
Dear Lord, a special prayer -—please guide these poorly educated folks. And come back into our Learning Institutions!
Why some people even think they should have a say over other peoples money?....
For some to separate people from their money is relatively unchanged. They lie, cheat, and steal.
At this very moment I downloaded the Infowars podcast for today and yesterday, (Thursday and Wednesday) via iTunes. Granted, I have been a subscxriber to Infowars for some time as occasionally I like to listen to Alex in small doses while working down in the barn. I was suprised to find the podcasts available. I have all Infowar podcasts downloaded since the “ban.” Either Apple has bent the knee, or since I was a subscriber before the ban the podcasts are available. Perhaps Infowars is “shadowbanned” in the iTunes podcast selections. I don’t know. All I know is that I am listening to Thursday’s Inforwars four hour podcast via iTunes.
#7. You are correct re “shadow banning or outright banning of conservatives is obviously a major front opened by the Left against the rest of us”.
Straight out of communist tactical manuals - deny the opposition the means of mass communications.
Remember that the first thing Castro’s communist forces did when they seized Havana was to takeover the official TV station and then radio stations.
Years ago the Left opposed the Fairness Doctrine re “equal time” requirements (so did Conservatives).
Then they tried to impose “Net Neutrality” on the Internet and almost succeeded because of leftists on the FCC. All this despise published articles on the two main authors of “Net Neutrality” theory. They were both hardcore Marxists, one a journalism professor as I recall (possibly named McDouglas/McDougal and/or Nichols).
They had published a book in the 80’s about this though I think McDougal, possible first name Curtis, had written about this leftist control plan years earlier.
I know that www.DiscoverTheNetwork.org has something on this and probably www.keywiki.org (by name of “Net Neutrality” or by the names of its two creators.
You can be sure that the Democrat left is all for this attack on the First Amendment because they are beginning to use their attack on the 1st as a stepping stone for attacking the 2nd Amendment.
This is how the communists/Marxists operate. Attack, disinformation, propagandize the population, lawsuits, fake news (using the mainstream media as their intermediary voices/tools), and then by Congressional voting.
Notice that this attack is being carried out by very white, very rich liberals from Facebook and Twitter, among other electronic media operations. Talk about “communist stooges” - this is a whole congo-line of them.
Their adherence to the Constitution only runs as far as their bank accounts. They are the “dupes with the dollars”, so the communists are going to use them as frontmen for their media control schemes, which almost succeeded under Obama and Holder and their leftists on the FCC.
I don’t read Alex Jones and Inforwars. Don’t trust him for accuracy or honesty, so I don’t have a dog in his fight per se, but I do have one in the larger fight for keeping the First Amendment alive and well for all.
Time to strike back hard at the Left, however you can legally and financially.
“I appreciate your concern for discretion here Jim. Alex Jones is much like the National Enquirer used to be. 50% of it was nonsense and 50% was spot on but not everyone could always figure out which was which.”
Good example!
And THEN, The National Enquirer started revealing MAJOR stories the left wouldn’t touch (Jon Edwards). The National Enquirer has much more credibility today than it used to.
The difference with INFOWARS is that the ratio is more like 90/10. He rarely talks about the thing we can’t talk about (I’m ok with that). I can ignore the 10% and really appreciate the 90%.
Sort of like Hannity .... tic toc, throw granny off a cliff, etc.
“...it will be very hard to come up with a standard that restrains them but not FR. “
Ridiculous! FR is not GOOGLE or FACEBOOK.
Listen at INFOWARS and see how the “private company” excuse is demolished.
By terminating our free speech rights they can march forward with their plans to establish a repressive totalitarian government that controls every aspect of our lives.
Take your choice: *slam or communism. Both totalitarian, violent, redistributionist and repressive.
“Some services removed some Alex Jones articles and videos based on their principles of standards of conduct or content”
How do you know that his articles and videos violated their rules? They REFUSE to even tell Jones what the content was that they objected to.
If you don’t listen to Alex Jones and only know about him from what the media says about him, you are woefully misinformed! I used to be that person. Then I thought I would check him out MYSELF. Greatly impressed was I.
Ya don’t know, what ya don’t know.
And they claim that Rush is bombastic!?
“He has other, more rational topics? “
OBVIOUSLY, you haven’t listened to him lately.
VERY reasonable.
Man, do I ever Miss Lee Ann Mcadoo!
FR isn’t GOOGLE. <—— PERIOD!
Why can’t you get that?
Most of us live in the “REAL” world, not your “perfect world”.
While many things are “Black or White”, GRAY (or GREY) DOES EXIST!
We make these judgements every day, hundreds of times a day. Discernment!
This is why we have courts, to interpret our laws. Like “what is a monopoly”.
A case against Google will be heard, a case against FR would be laughed out of court.
I hope this helps you .... otherwise you are just being a jerk.
Bttt.
