Full title: 'Calexit' supporters revamp campaign with plan to convert half of California into 'autonomous Native American nation'
Organizers of a long-running initiative to secure Californias secession from the United States now say they want to give away nearly half of the state, including all of its federal land, to form an autonomous Native American nation.
Calexit, as the proposal for Californias secession is known, was given the green light by the state government earlier this year to begin collecting signatures to place the measure on the November ballot. Advocates had until mid-October to gather 365,880 signatures of registered voters to put it up for a statewide vote.
But the revamp announced by Calexits founders on Tuesday adds an additional objective: constructing the first ever autonomous Native American nation in North America, by giving Native Americans all federal lands in the state, running from the border with Mexico to the state boundary shared with Oregon.
Why not do something to right some of the wrongs of the past to the Native American people, and give them back their land? Calexit co-founder Louis J. Marinelli said Tuesday.
Because most of the federal land would include conservative-leaning portions of California, the plan would also create a buffer zone between Donald Trumps America and the new independent California Republic, another co-founder of the initiative, Marcus Ruiz Evans, said in a statement.

Whoo-Hoo! Casinos for everyone!
Lemme GUESS:
It is to be named ATZLAN, or something, right...?
They are SUCKERING us with this “Native American” crap.
I *KNOW* what they are, they’re fine, but they ain’t MEXICAN.
And I that’s what this IS, on the sly.
Elizabeth Warren would have an area she could serve s president.
Civil War 2 seditionists. Lock them up, trial, convict, execute.
If Calexit happened, would that mean they have to keep their invaders?
Mexico really wants that land back. Traitors are being naked in their treason.
How many days would it be before Mexico’s military rolled in and got them to surrender.
Support Free Republic, Folks!
This is your brain on drugs
One big problem California has is that land is so expensive. Giving away large portions of real estate won't help resolve that problem, will it?
And will the Indians really be able to keep Yosemite and the other parks in good condition? It's not hard to foresee future conflicts between the native Americans and environmentalists, if the plan were ever to go through.
FWIW, California has the largest American Indian population in the country, but I wonder how many of the state's native Americans are from native California tribes and how many came from other states to settle in the big cities.
As I understand it, the tribes native to California weren't large top begin with and didn't do well demographically after the Europeans came.
From my understanding, Federal Land would still be Federal Land. California can’t designate Federal Land for anything.
That map would cut off the supply of new voters to the kleptocrats in Blue California. Within 2 generations, it would revert to sanity, and the two Californias could reunite again. And they would all live happily ever after.
How about the Democrats give up the area that voted Democrat, not the areas that voted Trump?
What a fine fantasy to ponder—California leaves the Union, taking 2 Senate Democrats, about 39 out of 53 Democrat reps, the 9th Circus, all those Hollywood freaks, and has to live with the consequences of its catastrophic ideology. And we get to watch them collapse, or be consumed back into Mexico, in which case they will look just like the rest of Mexico does in a few short years. What’s more, hordes of liberal loons from the rest of the US will flock to their borders, demanding to be let in, and they will have no grounds to turn them away. Schadenfreude is so delicious!
