3D-printed gun release delayed amid pushback, misreporting

Texas-based Defense Distributed has indefinitely delayed plans to release new 3D printable gun files, an attorney for the group says, amid mounting political pushback and widespread complaints about inaccurate news reporting.

Many Democratic officials, joined by President Trump, have expressed unease about 3D-printed guns, with Trump tweeting Tuesday, "I am looking into 3-D Plastic Guns being sold to the public. Already spoke to NRA, doesn’t seem to make much sense!"

Defense Distributed decided Friday to delay publication of new printable gun files, attorney Josh Blackman told the Washington Examiner, before resistance to a planned Aug. 1 release date reached new intensity in Washington.

Where you going to drive if it happen federally again, like 1994? Dems are going to be in control of govt again at some point (hopefully not soon).

With the Supreme Court as constituted now (I’m assuming Kavanaugh is a shoo-in) much less with three more Trump appointments, that won’t ever happen.

"$19K for the machine, $1K for the plans, and about $5K more for the materials"

You're off by just a few dollars. Try $2000 for the CNC mill that will cut your gun parts out of a block of aluminum. The plans (the G-code that tells the mill what to do) are being released as open source, so free.

$5 per pound for 6061 aluminum alloy billets or maybe $75 if you want the gun's receiver to be preformed into an 80% receiver to save yourself a bit of work.

Not even the that hard. The plans have been available for years. This whole dust up is about distracting the public from something big. Not sure what it is, but mark my words.

It’s still a 5-4 court, and Clarence Thomas is 70. Relying on the supreme court to save the day is playing the death lottery.

If Clarence Thomas dies or is incapacitated in the next 6 years Trump gets to replace him. Sotomayor is at about the end of her life expectancy with Type I Diabetes. Breyer is 79. Ginsburg is 85. The odds sure look in our favor. I also think there’s a decent chance that Pence follows Trump.

I agree the odds are in our favor, especially of Trump wins a second term, but like I said, it is a death lottery, which is a lousy way for the fate of the country to be determined. It is less democratic and more like rule by a tyranny of 9.
