An argument over a handicapped parking spot at a convenience store in Florida led to a fatal shooting and the man who pulled the trigger wont be arrested under the states stand your ground self-defense law, authorities said.
Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri told reporters during a Friday press conference that Thursdays shooting death of Markeis McGlockton, a 28-year-old father of three, is within the bookends of stand your ground and within the bookends of force being justified, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Im not saying I agree with it, but I dont make that call, Gualtieri told reporters, adding that his agency will now forward the case to the State Attorneys Office for a final decision.

Oh, what happens if you pull out your gun to stop a threat and it accidentally discharges?
A gun is for shooting. That is what a gun does. Don’t pull your gun unless you intend to shoot.
If a person whom I thought was trying to harm or kill me turned his back, especially considering close proximity and recent displayed hostility, I would still shoot him.
What if he turned his back to me in order to pull a pistol from his waistband without my being able to see it?
Am I supposed to just stand there and wait?
The man already made his intentions clear, and those intentions were to harm.
Thus he is now dead.
Good riddance.
Absolutely. At the time of the shoot, the black guy is 8 to 10' from the white guy and was backing off when he was shot in the chest. The video don't lie.
We won't convince others here of the facts, even when there is clear video available. Some people are predisposed to believe what they want to believe, facts and video be damned. It's amazing yet happens all the time. Reminds me of that old movie, 12 angry men. ☺
What? after he saw resistance? violence?
Good Lord Man you have the right to defend yourself
It’s a fair exchange
Looks like a good case of self defense to me.
True, however the White guy is past his physical prime and has just been knocked on his ass. I would be significantly less adept and quick at retrieving my holstered firearm after a similar knockdown. Likely he fired as soon as he had a good target, the decision was made when Dindu continued to approach after the battery.
I personally would not have shot and the only way I would have is if the assault suspected had continued to move forward towards me.
Granted, but I suspect you have the benefit of more training and experience than "White Guy", remember, the 21 foot rule AND the defender was down (no choice of stance).
Yeah, and deceased is still in aggressive stance part way into “0:20” — I can’t break it down by 10th’s of seconds, but, maybe 0:20.5”, while shot is at maybe 0:23.1 or 0:23.2, I’d say.
Does the shooter even truly analyze that the deceased is moving back, or does survival and getting off an accurate shot pretty much consume his ability to react?
>>The guy is assaulted and pushed to the ground. The assailant backs away.<<
Anyone who physically assaults another person except in self-defense fully deserves whatever the victim’s immediate response is at that moment.
My guess is that the DA is not going to believe that he can convince 12 Floridians to sympathize with the violent criminal who assaulted an old man with great force right before being made into that old man’s bitch.
Both men are hot heads. Lesson is dont pick a fight with another man unless its a last resort, then finish it.
Lets not forget the dozens of cops assassinated under the HUSSEIN BARAKA usurpation in the name of BLM.
As a law abiding tax paying American Citizen, I don’t want Cops OR Criminals pissing in my cornflakes for any reason.
Unfortunately, that is not going to happen.
Don’t give me that shuck and jive, yer showing yer cards
>>If you want to stay alive, it wise not to assault people.<<
Exactly the way I look at it. Assailants deserve whatever response their victims make at the time of the assault. Don’t want to end up in the hospital or the morgue, don’t mess with people. It’s that simple.
I been waitin' for someone to notice that, ...
What say you now all you "Fry The White Guy" types?
3-4 seconds is nothing. A sneeze of 3 is longer. After the shove the victim is in defense mode. 3 seconds won’t win any competitive draw and shoot contests but I’d imagine it’s not bad for real life situation where you find yourself pushed to the ground with 3 people within 20 feet of you.
Yep.
He came out and owned that old man, then he got owned by that old man.
Regardless of what happens to the old man or not, Home Boy is dead as f***.
Yes, that's how I'm starting to see it too... The slight pause is likely because the shortly-to-be-deceased IS moving & moves slightly to the side too. At this point fear and getting an accurate shot off is likely about all the shooter's mind can really process, unless the STBD freezes and throws his hands up IMMEDIATELY.
I don't know why, but this vid made me think back to the last time I played softball at a picnic --certainly something I've done before, but also something I'd probably only done half a dozen times in the preceding 20 years. High fly ball coming to me: TOTAL attention is on catching that thing, but even so, I'm not a trained pro and not consciously analyzing which direction the spin will take it, probably not hearing the 2nd baseman screaming "throw to 1st" (to pick off the runner) until after the catch is made, etc. And that's a heck of a lot stressful situation!
>> I say it was legitimate self defense.<<
You say right, and for the reasons you’ve stated. People who physically assault others, except in self-defense, deserve what they get.
I say don’t be assaulting me jackweed
Yup and yup, thems the rules you fools
