Watch: Officer fires through window in Las Vegas car chase An officer in Las Vegas fired through a window in a dramatic high-speed car chase last Wednesday.
The police unit released the video on Monday which showed dramatic body camera footage of an officer at the wheel, grabbing his gun, and peppering his windhsield with bullets to stop the suspect from getting away.
The chase and shootout, which occurred July 11, came after officers responded to an attempted murder call, police said.
Another police car joined the chase but was shot at by the suspects a number of times. Metropolitan Police Department Assistant Sheriff Tim Kelly said in a statement that the second officers car was hit by bullets at least twice, forcing him to abandon the chase.
He added that during the pursuit, the two suspects, Fidel Miranda, 23, and 30-year-old Rene Nunez, fired 34 shots at officers and hit several marked police vehicles.
One suspect was killed during the pursuit, while the other was left wounded.
Don’t ya’ll know how to steer with your knees? My husband did it all the time. My legs are too short.
Ok..so let's play the scenario till the end of time game. NO. That's not what happened. I am addressing firing his weapon in a school zone, motorist in the line of fire along a busy street while swerving and bouncing around.
Very poor judgment. We could change that scenario all day long until the conditions were favorable to fire upon the thug's vehicle...but that's not what happened.
If his round would have killed someones loved one, the officer would be sitting in a courtroom defending his livelihood, assets and bank accounts not to mention taxpayer dollars being paid out to the family from the police departments insurance company.
Did you even watch the video?
That’s true.
I’ve done it also.
So has just about every guy at one point.
Stupid cop was rapid firing through the windshield!
NO WAY WAS HE HITTING THE FLEEING CAR!
While rapid firing through the windshield!
LOL!
But you don’t care if the perps kill someone?
That’s all this boils down to for you.
Perps kill someone, why they’re expected to.
Officer tries to end their behavior, and that’s wrong to you.
You have no idea how many people these two could wind up killing.
Here you are spouting off against the officer
>>Youre not helping yourself here.<<
Whatever Doughty. If you condone that sort of behavior from officers, then there’s nothing anyone could ever say that would convince you otherwise.
over and out
Hmm
That bore looks rusty . . .
I’ll bet that sounded like a rational question to you.
I watched him take both hands off the wheel. Did you notice the car didn’t swerve, didn’t go out of control?
He only had his hands off the wheel for a few seconds.
You’ve never done that before to see how your car tracks?
Look....criminals on the run and pushing out live fire have to be stopped...period. It matters not whose child or spouse they’r related to which has nothing whatsoever to do with the criminal on the run.
What part of pull over, or stop do people not understand. It equally doesn’t matter what past experiences a criminal has had with officers.........if you’re involved and on the run presently you’re going down if you pull a gun and begin shooting.
Is it an ideal situation? No.
Life doesn’t exactly work out in great little patterns where all our problems go away on their own.
Sometimes when people are firing weapons in public and driving recklessly, you have to try to put an end to it any way you can.
That’s what this officer did.
At the end of the day, no good guys got hurt here.
One perp is dead.
The other is out of commission for years.
Instead of giving the officer kudos, you wish to jump on his head with both feet.
I’m not joining you.
Pretty sure he was talking about bystanders possibly being hit by the errant gunfire. Could've happened.
I am all for sending these perps to meet their maker...however in doing so the cop accidentally shot two school kids along the way and the car crashed into your wife and baby killing them who happened to be on the sidewalk.
Was it worth it?
Jus askin...
People expect the officers to ‘protect the criminal’ today. Never mind the life at stake or ones taken or could be taken.. Just keep them criminal safe so his legal rights are secure!
The insanity of this mindset is off the scale!
I have fired a couple of ar-15 rounds while sitting in a polaris ranger with windshields in it. I thought I would never hear again. I bet this guy is still saying “what? I can’t hear you!”
What about the unicorns along the way?
You forgot to mention them.
And those ponies and little puppies...
Why don’t you folks all enter fantasy-land and leave reality to the rest of us.
You have no idea how many people these two could have killed later on, but I note you don’t address that reality.
It'll be a happy day when folks understand that committing a crime, resisting the police, and open firing at them is BECAUSE of the people committing those crimes....not those trying to stop them.
I was thinking some 3-in-1 oil on the outside....;)
Excellent!
