Watch: Officer fires through window in Las Vegas car chase An officer in Las Vegas fired through a window in a dramatic high-speed car chase last Wednesday.
The police unit released the video on Monday which showed dramatic body camera footage of an officer at the wheel, grabbing his gun, and peppering his windhsield with bullets to stop the suspect from getting away.
The chase and shootout, which occurred July 11, came after officers responded to an attempted murder call, police said.
Another police car joined the chase but was shot at by the suspects a number of times. Metropolitan Police Department Assistant Sheriff Tim Kelly said in a statement that the second officers car was hit by bullets at least twice, forcing him to abandon the chase.
He added that during the pursuit, the two suspects, Fidel Miranda, 23, and 30-year-old Rene Nunez, fired 34 shots at officers and hit several marked police vehicles.
One suspect was killed during the pursuit, while the other was left wounded.
Coonan and Desert Eagle have both produced semi-automatics in .357 Magnum... with varying results.
Perps fired bullets at police officers
Attempted murder of police officers.
ALL BETS ARE OFF! NO RESTRAINT REQUIRED!
The police take great offence at trying to be killed.
The only problem is that one of the perps is still alive.
Talk of how the pursuit began, homicide suspects...
Reporter addresses department policy, and once perps open fire on the streets, officers have no choice but to return fire.

Hunter didn’t need a port.
A busted windshield was enough.
I’ll give the cop an A+ for balls, and a C- for judgement.
Seems to me the officer only fired when in close proximity to the vehicle in order to suppress perp shots and to disable the vehicle. While it’s unclear to me why the perps stopped, it is clear it was due to the officer’s shooting.
On top of rather excellent and careful driving, nicely executed law enforcement.
Did anybody get killed or injured other than a bad guy? Hat tip to the police officer that decided to put his life on the line to stop those murderers.

Yes, the problem is ejecting a long relatively small diameter rimmed cartridge w/o a place for traditional extractors to operate. That’s why blowback .22 Rimfire semi-autos are such a pain in the a$$. I have a Sig .22 LR semi, and it almost doesn’t work unless I use CCI mini-mags. It is the most unreliable pistol I have. I bought it as an “emulator” for my centerfire Sigs, but it’s not something I’d ever have to protect myself with.
I’m pretty sure the body is an Imperial, but is that front end from an Edsel?
;)

Yes, he was even two-hand firing when he didn’t need to steer. Mi guess is that he finally hit the driver with a disabling shot. Just wished he’d have been able to kill both of them, and save the taxpayers of Las Vegas the money to try and then execute the one that lived.
The cop had no choice about the setting, he had to follow the shooters wherever they went.
He should not have fired through the windshield though. There’s no telling where those rounds will go after punching through thick glass and laminate.
He started to fire lefty and then abandoned that idea. Don’t cops train in firing with the off hand?
Looks Edsel-like - probably inspired it

Black Beauty
The TV series featured the Green Hornet’s car, The Black Beauty, a 1966 Imperial Crown sedan customized by Dean Jeffries[24] at a cost of US$13,000. Two cars were built for the show and both exist today. Black Beauty 1 is located in the Petersen Automotive Museum collection and Black Beauty 2 has been fully restored and is located in a private collection in South Carolina.
I agree.
...”He should not have fired through the windshield”....
Well if you had steady live fire coming at you through your vehicles windshield to try and kill you you might think differently. In less of course you’re fool enough to stick your head out the window.
Loved the show as a kid....

You won for the dumbest post of the year.
Well, it turned out he took the bad guys off the street without them harming anyone else.
Sorry you dont have the tools to grasp that.
><
It was pure luck that no one got hurt or killed.
I’m glad you aren’t a cop or in the military.
You don’t have the sense to be either of those. I wouldn’t want you in a firefight.
You couldn’t “grasp” a situation.
It is and for good reason, but in this event those very brave LEOs did outstanding.
