Ten Washington University students, all black and all incoming freshmen, were stopped by Clayton police this month while walking to a MetroLink stop from a late-night dinner and told they were suspected of leaving the IHOP restaurant without paying, university officials said.
Even though some of the students had receipts showing they had paid for their meals, police made all of them walk three blocks back to the restaurant, with six squad cars following them. At the restaurant, the manager told officers the students were not those who had left without paying...

How are we to know how to feel without knowing the skin colors of the police? If the cops were all white we must be completely and totally outraged to the point of rioting.
Youre not allowed to round up whole groups like that.
The point I was trying to make is that the ones that paid may have been colluding with the ones that didn’t. It happens. Each time, a different part of the group agrees to pay so, in the end, everyone gets every second or third meal free.
Reminds me of the guy that rolled his car in front of my house at 2:30 Saturday morning. He then got into a friend’s pickup and took off. The cops came by and, as we were waiting for a tow truck, the cop said that a lot of these accidents result in the owner reporting it stolen even though he was the one driving. Not 2 minutes after he said that, the truck drove by going the other direction. I pointed it out and another cop chased after it. 20 minutes later it came back with the guy in the back seat that had left the car. He was the owner. :)
Cops are on to all the tricks and in a situation like that, yes, the whole group needs to be rounded up. What if three of them WERE the ones who dined and dashed, and it was overt enough for the other guys to obviously know what was going on?
“I disagree.”
If you had your receipt, I bet you wouldn’t be so deferential to police authority over you.
They produced receipts when they were stopped and still marched back to the restaurant.
That is not reasonable. If same happened to anybody here, I doubt they would find it reasonable either.
If you had your receipt, I bet you wouldnt be so deferential to police authority over you.
If they all had receipts, there would have been no excuse for cops to detain them.
That’s Funny!
My wife was a professional waitress in Oakland for years and had that impression.
LOL! Yeah, my youngest , who delivered pizza’s to get through college would agree with you.
Oh look, the MSM is biased, anti-white and full of crap.
There are unanswered questions. So before we all start virtue signaling our positions on either side, let’s wait until all the facts are in.
As if this NEVER happened to white kids???
Because Im sure that part is probably a flat out lie
“If I was alone, you are right. As I said in my first response, the key word here is some.
If they all had receipts, there would have been no excuse for cops to detain them.”
It’s a clear rights violation, imo. I hope they retain lawyers. I’ll bet “some” is just media inaccuracy. I think all of them could prove they just paid, either with a paper receipt, or with bank transaction records.
Perp-walking them three blocks does not strike me as reasonable.
Well, they have the right to try, I suppose.
The unreasonable part is walking back individuals with valid reciepts. There is no need to force paying customers back to the restauant. I would be irate if I was in their position.
Bingo
if you are black you would
Oh, like a 33% reduction, since the kids showed reciepts, in way too many patrol cars makes some kind of a big difference. What a boneheaded, defensive thing to say.
I had long assumed that most of the country is fairly racially tolerant in areas outside of the ghettos, like here in the multiculti eastern states. I'm starting to think I've been wrong, it pains me to say.
