There is no Warsaw pact
It was always the USSR / Russia that was the menace, with their massive ground forces and desire for Western Europe ... in that respect, nothing has changed.
So NATO is still needed, Russia can't be trusted. And Trump and his advisors realize this.
But NATO also has to get rid of undemocratic, duplicitous "allies" like Turkey - doesn't matter how strategically-placed they are.

BTW: Don’t you mean undemocratic, duplicitous allies like France, Germany, and the UK?
NONE of those nations are worth our blood and treasure any more.
