The founder and former CEO of Papa Johns allegedly used a racial slur during a May conference call on how to avoid unflattering public relations incidents, Forbes reported Wednesday.
John Schnatter, the companys chairman and public face, allegedly used the slur during an exercise on handling public relations for the company after he faced blowback for tying the NFL's national anthem protests to lower sales for Papa Johns, according to the magazine.
Forbes reported that Schnatter used the slur after being asked how he would distance himself from racist groups, and tried to play down the impact of his statement on the anthem protests. Colonel Sanders called blacks n-----s, Schnatter reportedly said on the call, adding the Sanders didnt face outcry for his statements.
The founder also reportedly said that when he was growing up in Indiana, people would drag black people from trucks until they died.
Schnatter meant the comments to show his opposition to racism, but others on the call found his statements offensive, according to Forbes.
The marketing agency who arranged the call, Laundry Service, cut ties with Papa Johns after the statements, the publication reported.
Papa Johns did not deny the incident in a statement to Forbes.
"Papa John's condemns racism and any insensitive language, no matter the situation or setting, the statement read. We take great pride in the diversity of the Papa John's family, though diversity and inclusion is an area we will continue to strive to do better."

Good point. I think it’s time we replace the N word with the O word.
When the black and brown racists get taken to the woodshed for their constant and shameless racism, then I’ll listen.
No one should accept the double standard anymore.
BS - he was making an allegorical point and the social justice warriors like yourself cringed because the word hurt their ears.
It is entirely a leftist issue destroying logic and rationale on this planet and trolls like yourself dont help the situation.
It was a PR firm on a private conference call that publicized the matter to virtue signal and further attack someone who stood up to BLM
“The Left has lost their minds.”
Oh, I wasn’t aware they had a mind to begin with.
“Looks to me like the Papa Johns board simply wanted him out, and used the racist slur BS to frame him.”
How did they ‘frame him?’
I’m glad George Carlin isn’t alive to see how crazy people go today about words used in contexts that aren’t racist are taken as examples of racism.
Hahahahaha...that made me laugh...great movie!
It was a business decision by the marketing company.
They were on the call, they heard him say that, they quit.
Why would anyone oppose the marketing company’s right to cut ties with a pizza company?
Is the word “Niggardly” still taboo?
Because of a quote...so what.
This sentence is very ill-phrased.
I think they meant to say: "...people would drag Black people behind trucks until they died."
Does anyone know if Forbes is looking for a good copy-editor? I might be available...
Regards,
If Chelsea mentions that Sen Byrd (D-WV) said “n*gger” in a live 2001 interview, twice, that does NOT make Chelsea the racist.

Well then, perhaps John Schnatter can sue the marketing company, and take the stand in a civil trial.
Ive recently started observing Instagram. You run into all sorts of stuff there.
Ive run across some music with the N word repeated over and over. Hey, no problem, because of the people who came up with the song.
It bothered me, because I never use the word. I have gone months, perhaps years without hearing it. Thats why I so seldom think of it.
It bothered me to hear it so often. I dont want that word in my head.
Youve got to wonder why anyone would. Anyone!
Not representing him is a business decision.
Publicizing it is not and is a political attack.
“Because of a quote...so what.”
Is it within the marketing company’s rights to cut ties with Papa Johns?
Sure.
What he said was not a racial slur.
This kind of thing has got to stop.
I’m telling you, I don’t think these midterms are going to be close. Regular people are sick of this kind of thing.
Is publicizing a private recording of a private conversation within a companys rights?
