[FULL TITLE] NBC: We Hear From A Single Source That Kennedy Negotiated His Retirement To Get Kavanaugh; Update: That Is Garbage
Did Anthony Kennedy cut a secret deal with Donald Trump back in November to have Brett Kavanaugh replace him on the Supreme Court? Or do media outlets need to verify claims from single sources before taking them public? NBCs Leigh Caldwell and Frank Thorp hear the pick has been locked in since November, and that the drama over the last two weeks was sheer atmospherics:
Leigh Ann Caldwell ✔ @LACaldwellDC Replying to @LACaldwellDC Furthermore, the five names Trump added to his list of Federalist Approved judges last November was to get Kavanaugh on that list. The other four names were considered cover, per source. In other words: the decision has been baked for a while: W/ @frankthorp 6:15 AM - Jul 10, 2018

Your scenario makes Kennedy in charge of the situation and Trump going along. Mine makes Trump the initiator and Kennedy's decision a passive response.
No doubt NBC’s usual “anonymous source” made up in its news room by Hillary supporters who are still in mourning.
Orotten as a SC justice? What a hideous thought!
All news nust be judged on its own merits, Regardless of the source. Dismissing this report due to its source is no different than “Libs” who would never take a Breitbart post or post from FreeRepublic just becase they reject both sources as “fake news”.
Such knee-jerk reactions lack the intellecual discernment I have always held Conservatives as generally having more of than the Left.
I think the article has ever chance of being right.
Trump, wrongly in my view, wanted to avoid a SCOTUS-pick-fight that would deny that pick getting the nod before the MidTerms. Kavenaugh is right out of the Bush family legal stable and the RINOS will get behind McConnnel to insure the 5o votes needed after he bypasses any filibuster. THAT, not any composition of the court was Trump’s aim.
I always though he was wrong. The GOP base could use a good fight they could get behind before the midterms, and wacthing the Libs batter a female court nominee from Trump, whom they hate, would have done, and sent more female Dims into the “#Walkaway” movement. GOP enthusiasm in November waas always capable, if enough, to not only save the House and the Senate, but increase the GOP Senators. Making a court pick even easier next time.
Trump avoided a fight I think we would have won at the end of the day.
I think as the WSJ says - all is pretense now, in Congress, not a real fight the Dims are really going to be very unhappy about, as we know they were going to be about Amy Barret. Kavenaugh will be confirmed and both the GOP establishment and the Dims will actually be O.K. with it. Roe, Obamacare, the CFPB, gay marriage (and more) are all safe with Kavanaugh.
So?
I tend to think this probably happened. But it’s not illegal, can never be proven as it’s probably a verbal promise. So it can be speculated forever on but has no impact on anything.
At least the deal didnt involve appointing a sitting AG who would pre-absolve the eventual appointer at a creepy secret tarmac meeting with the appointers husband, in exchange for her familys safety, in order to replace a (assassinated?) conservative Justice
What about a non-source?
I've not paid any real attention to football since the last millennium, but I happened to be over my parents when NBC Sports [news] decided to turn out the lights in the broadcast booth for an NFL game to "save the planet" or somesuch.
Should not rely on a single source.
That seems about right: 20% hardcore socialist left + 5% clueless morons.
More idiocy from the cartoon NBC.....
“Henry Waxman”
That’s a name I hadn’t heard in a while. Is old Nostrils still on the planet?
Thanks.

I had to pull it out of my “ People I Will Never Stop Hating” file.
I don’t even care if the jerk is still alive, but he was a master of the “So What” defense.
Thank you.
Kennedy retired before Trump selected Kavanaugh.
It has been known for at least a year that Kennedy was going to retire soon.
