... Paul has told colleagues that he wouldnt vote in favor of Kavanaugh if the judge is nominated, citing Kavanaughs role during the Bush administration on cases involving executive privilege and the disclosure of documents to Congress ...

Kavanaugh is well-known in D.C. legal circles. Theres wide agreement among the people I know who know him that, in terms of judicial philosophy and temperament, he falls somewhere between Chief Justice Roberts and the late Justice Scalia. Some say hes closer to Roberts. Others say hes closer to Scalia.
So we got a collegial guy, a Yaley, a "people I know" kind of man, a friend of Kagan and the Bushes, and one that can't be described as close to either Scalia nor to Roberts.
We could have just kept Kennedy.
Or possible it was just a random wrongly marked link.
That’s good, but his views on NSA spying on US are not.
Republicans always do this. They punt. They have no fight in them. Barrett was the pro lifer his base wanted but he was talked out of it by the
establishment. If you have to fight, fight for the one you want. Kavanaughs long ties to Bush might sink him. Trump could have done so much better.
I could care less what democrats say about him, its his own opinions he wrote. Hes not a committed pro lifer and defender of religious liberty. He was educated by liberal Jesuits. Terrible pick.
You are of course absolutely correct. This was a backroom deal. The Bush wing was consulted and knew it was coming. It was interesting that GW sent out his approval letter almost before Kavanaugh had finished his acceptance speech. These days it takes GW 3 days to figure out where to...
No matter who President Trump nominated the Democrats were going to scream like hell and do their best to drag this thing out to make sure that it is a midterm issue. But this nominee was a compromise and the Demwits know it. President Trump has good instincts and picked someone with a long track record that longtime DC Republicans would line up behind and Democrat swamp creatures would put up a mostly a show fight against.
So let the character assassination begin...
another bullshit article that dozens of hysterical FReepers are wringing their hands and gnashing their teeth about ... Ron Paul has publicly stated he has an open mind about Kavanuagh ...
Paul won’t support anything that he didn’t come up with.
Just a little boy threatening to take his ball and go home if he doesn’t get his way.
I agree. However, where do the other SCOTUS candidates and justices stand on this? Is it possible that Kavenaugh is no worse than the others?
I wish Rand Paul, instead of Burr, could question him in the judiciary committee.
Thanks
Some guys just need a good beating now and then...oh...wait..
lol
Now don’t know what to think. Is Kavanaugh pro-abortion or not? Too unclear. What specifically is Rand’s problem? I think this needs to be carefully fleshed out. He did support the Healthcare tax.
What is Rand is saving us from a pro-NSA spying, pro-abortion candidate?
Yikes. Sounds like a deep stater.
He might get tackled again when he returns home if he sends this nominee down the drain.
Watch out he was trained, high school, by Jesuits. A militant left wing religious group. Why am I sure. High school and college. Beware! The Jesuit Pope is doing a fine job. Not.
