After reading about Brett Kavanaugh, I have the feeling that if Jeb Bush had won the presidency he would have chosen him for the Supreme Court.

So why did Donald Trump also pick such an Establishment figure?

Maybe Kennedy made a deal with him? I don’t know. It really doesn’t seem like a good pick, or a Trump pick.

Easier confirmation, only reason I can think of.

Between your feelings and President Trump’s judgement, I’m going with the President. Welcome to Free Republic.

Trump and the republicans really want this done before the elections in November...this guy seems like the best bet to get confirmed before then..there’s no telling what kind of Senate they’ll have in January....bad time to nominate someone that would really spark a fight. This pick will indeed be a fight, but this guy will have the experience to weather what the Demos go after him for....hate to nominate one of the others and then have them make a mistake or fold during the hearings and then have it all delayed til after the elections. I think the pick is rock solid..especially on guns. President Trump is turning into a very influential President...outstanding.
