DNC chair: Ocasio-Cortez represents the 'future of our party'

Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Tom Perez said Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez represents the “future of our party” on Tuesday.
"I have three kids. Two of them are daughters — one just graduated college, one who is in college. And they were both texting me about their excitement over Alexandria because she really — she represents the future of our party," Perez said on "The Bill Press Show."
Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old self-proclaimed democratic socialist and organizer with Sen. Bernie Sanders's (I-Vt.) presidential campaign, rose to fame after defeating incumbent Rep. Joseph Crowley (D) in a stunning primary upset last week.
Crowley was the No. 4 House Democrat and seen as a potential Speaker.
Perez on Tuesday added that he had "great respect" for Crowley, calling him a “good Democrat” who “fought the good fight."

who would have thought socialism is the theme of the Democrat party.
They can’t claim this was some fluke of a result by the fringe in a single district now...the Chairman of the Democrat Party itself has declared that Communism is the future of the Democrat Party.
Ocasio-Cortez is part of the Democratic Socialists of a America, whose leader said that the victories of their candidates will turn the country “into the right shade of red.” Communism of the agenda, and openly admitted to - and now openly embraced by the leadership of the Democrat Party itself.

So true; when you look closely, there was already plenty of “socialism” in place before he even arrived. Things like the Earned Income Credit (wealth redistribution for low-wage workers on top of whatever freebies they already receive), means-adjusted college financial aid (grants, not loans), government job preferences for minorities - we already had plenty of socialism - and part of Obama’s job was to keep it enshrined in law. No accident that Trump has changed the tax code and is now addressing affirmative action...
