Paramount Network has slotted July 30 at 10 PM for the premiere of Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story. The network also unveiled the full trailer for the six-part original docuseries, which recounts the life and legacy of Trayvon Martin, whose 2012 shooting death polarized the nation and gave rise to the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
Trayvon Martin was an unarmed 17-year-old African American high school student shot and killed by a neighborhood watch member in the Sanford, Florida community on February 26, 2012 where he was visiting a friend with his father. George Zimmerman was acquitted of a second-degree murder charge utilizing Floridas Stand Your Ground Law, claiming he shot Martin in self-defense.
The fatal encounter between Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman and the subsequent trial sparked nationwide outrage and protests and shined an unforgiving light on issues including race, politics, power, money and, gun control.
Interviews combined with home videos, family photos, and news footage provide an intimate look at the story of a young life tragically cut short and that spurred a movement giving rise to a rallying cry that still resonates today, #BlackLivesMatter.
Featured in the docuseries are Trayvon Martins parents Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin; Martin family lawyer Donald Crump, Angela Rye, Reverend Al Sharpton, Angela Davis and Carmelo Anthony, among others.
Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story also addresses the significant cultural and societal issues surrounding the tragedy as well as an in-depth examination into the investigation, trial, and the not-guilty verdict.
Travon will be portrayed as a vindictive black ner-do-well who was shot and killed while attempting the murder of a white man.
Will they show it was Trayvon Martin who jumped George Zimmerman as Zimmerman was walking away; following the instructions of the 911 operator?
As I remember reading, aeronautical science at that school is basically how to pull the tire chocks out and use the orange flashlight to park the airplanes.
Gotta keep the racial fires stirred up lest people begin to love one another.
The stand your ground law did not figure into the incident in any way whatsoever, as Trayvon was on top of Zimmerman pounding him when he got shot.
Fake documentary.
Free Purple Drank and blunts for everyone!
I will not be in that audience.
Travon Martin needed shooting.
No kidding. He wasn't even an aspiring rapper.
Trayvon Martin, was a young punk career criminal with a mile long rap sheet. He got what he deserved. Don’t like what I say, then go to hell. The riots and thuggery that followed because he was a supposed poor black kid was so stupid it defied description. Just another criminal being worshipped by the liberals.

When one of my Republican relatives HATED George Zimmerman and sided with Trayvon, that’s when I knew we were on separate sides. Sure enough, this person now has a bad case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Any Whitey det goes to dis be real stupid.
Mama gonna be rich.
Its hard to ‘rest in Power’ when demons are crawling up your butt.
Glad to see they're presenting both sides of the issue.
It seems more to me it was Trayvon standing his ground.
Another shooting that bothers me, and a whole lot more, is the guy the cops gunned down in the Ohio Walmart carrying a B.B. gun he picked up to purchase.
Not long after I saw the video of the guy getting shot down I was in a Walmart and saw a tall black kid, maybe he was about 12-13, looking at a B.B. gun that had been placed in the clearance section.
He picked it up to look at it and the scenario of this kid being shot down by cops became very real to me.
I walked up to him and said, son, let me put that gun up, someone might think its the real thing.
He said Yes maam, very politely and handed it to me.
Probably show young ‘tres gone’ backing away with his hands in front of him saying “No massa, no. I do what you say massa.” And, we know woke folks who will vcr it so they can re-watch it. Think it’ll stir up a little discontent?
