Paramount Network has slotted July 30 at 10 PM for the premiere of Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story. The network also unveiled the full trailer for the six-part original docuseries, which recounts the life and legacy of Trayvon Martin, whose 2012 shooting death polarized the nation and gave rise to the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
Trayvon Martin was an unarmed 17-year-old African American high school student shot and killed by a neighborhood watch member in the Sanford, Florida community on February 26, 2012 where he was visiting a friend with his father. George Zimmerman was acquitted of a second-degree murder charge utilizing Florida’s Stand Your Ground Law, claiming he shot Martin in self-defense.
The fatal encounter between Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman and the subsequent trial sparked nationwide outrage and protests and shined an unforgiving light on issues including race, politics, power, money and, gun control.
Interviews combined with home videos, family photos, and news footage provide an intimate look at the story of a young life tragically cut short and that spurred a movement giving rise to a rallying cry that still resonates today, #BlackLivesMatter.
Featured in the docuseries are Trayvon Martin’s parents Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin; Martin family lawyer Donald Crump, Angela Rye, Reverend Al Sharpton, Angela Davis and Carmelo Anthony, among others.
Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story also addresses the significant cultural and societal issues surrounding the tragedy as well as an in-depth examination into the investigation, trial, and the not-guilty verdict.

Then again, we all know there are folks who buy the “hole” young life cut tragically short by a white mexican who “claimed” he was attacked. Too bad Zimmerman doesn’t know to STFU, even today.

Somehow, I’ve a hunch they’ll neglect to show Martin bashing Zimmerman’s head into the ground before Zimmerman kills him in self-defense.

They’ll probably have a skinny, weak looking 14 year old actor, just entering puberty, play Trayvon. Gabourey Sidibe will play the “I don’t do cursives” girl who testified for for the prosecution. They’ll find some monster to play George Zimmerman.
I have to look up when this is on, so I don’t accidentally watch it.
I can’t wait to see the scene where Trayvon jumps the gay man and tries to play the Knockout Game, and then starts smashing the gay guy’s head on the pavement repeatedly and pounding his face while sitting on top of him.
Oh wait, they’re not going to have it like the evidence revealed at trial?
Good. Everything show is available for download on the torrents. I cancelled my subscription a year ago and just download the shows/series I like: Godless (best western series to come out on TV) and Violet Evergarden (my GF loved it) were the ones I got.

I guess it will be like “Roots”. Lies, nonsense, fantasy, and garbage which the media loves and a surprising number of Americans will believe.
I usually prefer fiction over documentaries-——so I’m sure I will enjoy this. :-)

And to clarify even further, one does not "use" Stand Your Ground. SYG simply codifies that one does not have an obligation to retreat. It isn't an optional invocation, the duty to retreat just doesn't exist.
Reporters, writers, even lawyers, are confusing SYG with Self Defense Immunity, and even with the entire concept of self defense.
