House still plans immigration vote next week despite Trump's tweet

House GOP leaders plan to move forward with a compromise immigration bill next week despite a Friday morning tweet from President Trump saying he thinks Republicans should hold off on immigration until after the midterm elections.

Trump said Republicans should "stop wasting their time on Immigration until after we elect more Senators and Congressmen/women in November," dealing a setback to lawmakers who were looking to get the president's support before casting their vote.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Friday confirmed that the legislation — introduced by Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.), Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-Fla.), Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mike McCaul (R-Texas) and Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) — will come to the floor before lawmakers leave for their July 4 recess.

"We have been working very closely with the entire conference taking all ideas in," McCarthy said Friday on the House floor. "We had a very productive conference last night, and we'll work through the weekend and will see that bill on the floor next week."

Let’s compromise! Fund the all, make eVerify mandatory, end chain migration, end lottery, implement merit immigration, end catch-and-release, end birthright citizenship, end DACA, and ban sanctuaries. In trade? Give the existing 670K DACA recipients permits to stay so long as they are in school and in good standing with it (and that their illegal families go home). If they join the military, give them green cards so long as they are in the service or once out with honorable conditions. And how about amnesty. Yes, give all illegal aliens amnesty for immigration crimes and make them eligible for future legal immigration so long as they declare themselves and leave the country withing 90 days.

“Someone behind the scenes really really really wants this. “

They just need to show their donors that they tried.

I like your plan. The absolute nonnegocialble is 100% of the WALL pre paid. But if we get that I can adopt the rest of your proposal with minor changes. The first bill had “border security “ . any time any one uses that immediately know that means open borders and no wall. The bill Monday will have the wall. It will Not be 25 billion!! It will be far less ranging from 1.6 to only 16 billion. That is no good!! This country voted for the president on primarily one issue. The wall. We want the wall. All the wall.
The president has promised in stone to veto the September spending bill if he doesn’t get all the wall. He promised” never again” when he cave in on the wall like was done in the omnibus. So we are going to get the wall either the easy way the hard way. If he backs down , there will be a political slaughter in November as 40!million walk away.

I agree, but I would also stick to the 1.8 million figure. the democrats will not sign this. If the bill doesn’t have everything you list, then it should be vetoed. The GOP would be very foolish to present a bill to his desk that he will veto.

I hope to G-d enough in the GOP vote against the mess referred to as the “Compromise” bill (Amesty full on and the only “compromise” was “O.K there must be border security & yes we approve a wall” (my words about what it means). EVERYTHING else is one manner or another for amnesty.

Anybody read the bill and know if it has Trumps 4 pillars?
I have not and don’t know, just asking...
But, If not he wont sign it anyway.
If it does, not one Democrat will support it.
Why waste time??

Under either of the previous bills, immigration would continue to rise. Chain migration would continue in some form. And controls on immigration would be mostly temporary reverting to old form after five years.

When some category of immigration is cut back, the cuts are transferred to somewhere else. Both bills are rearranging the furniture, gaming us, and pretending they are doing something. There is a net increase in immigration under either bill.

The DACA thing is the least of it. It would be better to give the DACA a$$holes their green card flat out, and just end chain migration and H-1Bs with out all the tricks and hand waving.

I'm not sure where e-verify stands, but it appears it will be white washed, with toothless penalties for non-compliance. This week has shown that perhaps the biggest loophole that needs to be addressed are "asylum" claims. We've seen that the crying kid thing was a complete sham from start to finish, and any appeal to asylum was preposterous.

What the American people want, and what congress wants are two different things. I expect what ever comes out of congress will be a stinking turd.

For the second time in as many days I just watched a "GOP pollster and consultant" named Lee Carter vomit DNC talking points on FNC.

She thinks the Trump administration is "on the wrong side of history" on immigration, and that the GOP faces a blowout in the mid-terms if they don't start working with Democrats.

This twit sounded more like Nancy Pelosi than even Pelosi as of late.

Where on earth do they find these so-called Republicans?

#8: "Anybody read the bill and know if it has Trumps 4 pillars?"

Do you remember Obama's "Greek pillars"? What President Trump asked for and what he's getting is a sham. The President asked for real pillars, congress is trying to trick him by delivering "Obama pillars". Yes, someone can get on TV and say yes, "we gave the President his pillars". From a distance they look like pillars, but up close they are made of styrofoam.

Yeah probably right knowing our congress, I did not find the bill, but I did just read an article from the hill that claims it does have them... Below the link is the comment I left on that article and I am finding the number and calling my Democrat Congressman as soon as I hit post.

http://thehill.com/homenews/house/393678-dim-prospects-for-house-immigration-bill-after-trumps-tweet

So many people just don’t get Trump and never will, so for those of you who don’t understand this President he is trying to get his supporters in Democrat controlled areas meaning you support him and your congressman is a Democrat, to call them and tell them to work with the Republicans and fix this or we will make them own it. Either that or simply stop wasting time and work on something else because we need some Democrats to sign the bill, period and they are currently opposed as a group.

Where on earth do they find these so-called Republicans?

I believe the deep state plants RATS in the Republican party, who regularly show their true colors and make people wonder what they’re doing in our party.

I also believe they plant RATS who DON’T show their true colors, and people like Carter act as diversions to make sure the real moles aren’t noticed.

They always seem to have a plan, and a backup plan, and a backup plan to THAT.

This is Paul Ryan’s opus, his attempt at accomplishing what the Chamber of Cronies paid him to do. Any Republican who votes for this amnesty for illegals should be defeated in November.

I would laugh my ass off, if he vetoed it.

There’s no way they’ll get a veto-proof majority.
