President Trump on Thursday blamed House Democrats for refusing to support two GOP immigration proposals, accusing them of exacerbating the ongoing crisis at the U.S.Mexico border. The tweet came hours after a hardline Republican immigration proposal failed in the House and shortly after Republican leaders agreed to postpone a vote on a centrist compromise bill.
"You cannot pass legislation on immigration whether it be for safety and security or any other reason including 'heart,' without getting Dem votes. Problem is, they dont care about security and Rs do. Zero Dems voted to support the Goodlatte Bill. They wont vote for anything!" the president tweeted. Trump's tweet referenced a bill proposal from Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) that failed by a vote of 193-231, with every Democrat and 41 Republicans voting against it.
Had it passed, the bill would have provided a pathway to citizenship for around 1.8 million "Dreamers," $25 billion in funding for Trump's signature border wall proposal and other security measures, and would have prevented migrant families from being separated at the border.
House leaders hope to take up a compromise bill, which is also supported by the White House, next week.

Why is ANY immigration reform bill even a priority right now in 2018?
Why can’t Trump just enforce existing laws? Forget about a stupid “fix.” Ike rounded up thousands of illegals within a month, and he had a fraction of the manpower and none of the technology that exists today.
Rid us of Yertle and scrap the filibuster.
Our anti American media and our politicians push amnesty. We are an occupied nation.
Perfect excuse to start using the “nuclear option”. Democrats want to play hardball? Fine.
McConnell - grow a pair.
Democrats are ‘voting’ to keep the immigration issue open in hopes they can damage President Trump with their bogus pro-illegal attacks.
Focus on jobs .
This topic is toxic before the midterms .
No Amnesty compromise !
No one wants it !
Good point .
Notice how Dems vote as a monolithic bloc but we almost never see unity among GOP?
Maybe for the Girl Scout cookie sales champion of the year being honored. Although I think Flake and McCain and a couple of those women senators voted no. Almost unanimous, though.
Dems are pests who only want to get power and will hurt America along with Trump to get it.
I see annoying pest control company ads.
Dems are pests.
I was starting to form a thought but my mind drifted. Oh, well.
There are people retiring and they have nothing to lose so if someone offered them, say a briefcase full of cash if they can ram it through before they leave office, why not go all out.
It's just my theory.
i just emailed the president again:
Dear Mr. President.
“Read our lips:” We don’t want amnesty, any amnesty. It’s been tried and it has failed. Veto any amnesty that comes to your desk. Keep your promises. That would be yet another nail in the coffin of our nation and a further erosion of our working class Americans.
Build the wall. Hire more law enforcement. Deport law breakers. Let Mr Sessions enforce our existing laws. please.
Most democrats place loyalty to party far, far ahead of loyalty to the nation, fealty to the US Constitution, personal honesty, ethisc and morality.
Those that don't are dealt with by party taskmasters.
They fall in line or else!

Not really a good recipe for advancing legislation that benefits the overall citizenry.
The only thing they’ll vote for is stand alone amnesty. That’s what they’re holding out for knowing they can count on the media to carry the ball for them.
They didn’t do anything when they were in control, why would you expect them to do something now. They know the citizenry doesn’t agree with them.
A pleasure to go read the article at The Hill without the emphasis.
Good point.
Democrats operate more like organized labor.
Most of the big money goes to the central organization.
Republicans are more like Privateers - each man keeps as much of the loot as he can.
The real problem is too many Democrats in R jerseys in the GOP who are really Cheap Labor Express stooges.
Trump can blame democrats all he wants but the ugly truth is the Republicans have majorities in the House and Senate and can’t get basic common sense legislation completed. I doubt that situation improves this fall based on how things are going.
The Republican Congress sucketh.
