One of the top issues for U.S. voters is health care. There is a simple solution most of the world is smart enough to recognize but is lost on us: a single-payer system.
There are two compelling reasons for a single-payer system. The first is the moral argument that health care security is a right for all of us. The second is a little more complicated, and that is health care economics. Sadly, most Americans do not understand this aspect of the health care debate and how it adversely affects them.
Anthem announced its first-quarter profits to be $1.31 billion. The reason for the increase from the previous quarter was lower medical costs. The couple who had their claim denied for the helicopter ambulance might find this interesting as well as the numerous people who had claims for emergency room visits denied.
If you have private insurance, approximately 70 percent of the premiums go to provide health care and 30 percent go to the overhead costs of the insurance company to include profits which they enhance by denying claims like yours. If we had a single-payer system, the overhead costs would be less than 5 percent, and 95 percent would go to actual medical care. The Republican Party, which is owned by the insurance companies, calls this socialism. I call it good economics.
The advocates for insurance companies argue that we cannot pay for this. I would argue that we already are. In fact we pay double what many countries pay for less beneficial outcomes.
Finally, the Republicans passed a huge tax cut for American businesses so that we could better compete with foreign companies. Imagine how much better our companies could compete if they did not have to pay for their employees' health care insurance. Their foreign competitors don't.

Healthcare is not a right. Never give in to this basic argument of the left.
Single Payer would ONLY work for DEMOCRATS!! There would be NO HELATH CARE FOR REPUBLICANS!! Anyone that doesn’t believe that is stupid.....or blind!
I agree Jim, consider the source is how I roll...
I call it inversional thinking, as a general rule the exact opposite of what they are saying is the truth. Makes it easier to understand, and when they try twisting the truth with a dash of BS thrown in you can focus on their true agenda
Great post
After he dies they will reregister him as democrat, so its a win/win for them
.
This is quite likely 200% true. You have to be ruthless and iron fisted...in other words "Democrat" in single payer application. If you do that you are guaranteed to control and lower health care expenses...guaranteed!
You will also lower life expectancy in the Unite States...by a bunch. You can turn the United States into George Will's Soviet Union in days of yore: A third world country with a powerful military.
You have to be a Democrat toi want that!
Barack, is that you?
This sub-moron has apparently never heard of Charlie Gard or Alfie Evans.
“One of the top issues for U.S. voters is health care. There is a simple solution most of the world is smart enough to recognize but is lost on us: a single-payer system.”
So many lies and false premise in just this one sentence. Libs keep saying it, hoping it will become true if they repeat it enough.
People who don’t have to pay for things tend to overuse them. When hypochondria gets expensive it diminishes. Nobody should die in the streets, but there are too many gaming the system.
There used to be a remedy for that; they called it charity. You were in need, people would help. Now we’re being forced to help whether we want to or not!
I work with a lot of people from Canada, the UK, and NZ.
They all complain that we don’t have single payer, till something major happens.
One gentleman told me he liked it (single payer in Canada), but the quality of care was less.
Single payer will never work
Work how? What do you want it to do?
For some things it is excellent. For other things, not so much.
It is inevitable anyway, so you should be thinking about your preferences for implementation. We are not going to borrow or print another $20 trillion to keep things as they are.
Correct; it is a RESPONSIBILITY. You are responsible for your own healthcare and that of your family. Government's job is to get out of the way and allow it to function as intended.
What a pack of lies .
England , France , Switzerland , Ireland , Brazil. ..... have private hospitals
For people with insurance or pay Cash .
More lies by a Globalist fraud .
Then explain why so many doctors and nurses and even patients in Canada were showing their butts at the U.S. border for jobs and more timely care.

There are lots of Charlie Gards and Alfie Evanses. Where do you believe the money to extend their lives for months should come from?
The first is the moral argument that health care security is a right for all of us
Nope.
Medicare, Medicaid and Veterans care are examples....
You feel for the propaganda .
There is plenty of private hospitals and Services overseas .
Right now, take 100 random people and for the same procedure you will see 100 different rates, depending on insurer, plan, and employers. Part of the problem of the costs is administration staff, Federal regulations and lawyers. I'd love to see the ratio of doctors to administrators in 1950 compared to today.
Think about the way medications are administered. Instead of medications coming in bulk in bottles, everything is individually wrapped in a bubble pack. A few years back, I looked at my late father's hospital bills; he was charged $5 for one aspirin in a bubble pack. I can go to Walmart and by 500 aspirin for $5. Insane.
Well, of course.
Any just implementation of single payer must allow or better yet encourage a robust cash only sector.
