Former President Obama’s intelligence chief on Monday said he hoped special counsel Robert Mueller would wrap up his Russia investigation soon and tell the country whether there was any collusion between Moscow and President Trump’s campaign.
“I think the overarching point here is that this whole issue has to come to a resolution,” Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said in an interview with Hill.TV’s new morning show, "Rising."
“At some point special counsel Mueller and his team I hope will wrap up the investigation and clear the air one way or the other whether or not there was collusion with the Russians,” he added. “This is a cloud that is hanging over the country and certainly hanging over this presidency. And I do hope that happens, and soon.”
Clapper also addressed last week’s Justice Department inspector general report, saying anti-Trump text messages between FBI agents were “not good, particularly using a government issued device,”
But he said he has not seen evidence yet that those opinions affected the outcome of the Clinton email or Trump-Russia probes. "But the actual impact on the investigation, I don’t see much of that,” he said.
With new reports that government officials have been using private email accounts, Clapper said his practice when he was director of national intelligence was to let his private email “go dormant” and to forward any government business accidentally sent to it to his official account.
And Clapper said the weekend reports that Trump's friend Roger Stone had a contact with a Russian figure during the election was just more evidence of “these frequent meetings between members of the Trump camp and the Russians.”

Muller is CYA for himself only, even if it hurts the Dem Party. Trump is a genius for letting this drag on.
I think the far more insidious, cooler and intelligent deep state powers-that-be are now looking at simply riding this administration out, just as they have in the past.
Perhaps they see that the DOJ IG report didn’t ask to indict anyone, or call criminal, as perhaps an appeasement sop.
So, the deep state ends trying to get Trump out, and Trump doesn’t indict anyone for “past” crimes.
I hate it, but I think it is now becoming a thing.

The RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA investigation will result in a report with no actual evidence of a connection to President Trump’s campaign. It will, however, be quite damning of President Trump and connect him to the non-related crimes of people associated with his campaign. The report, which will result in indictments, will come out right before this year’s elections.
The investigation into obstruction of justice will be similar and come out right before the 2020 election. By that time President Trump’s tax returns for the past 30 years will be leaked to the public.
Exactly. The longer this absurd investigation in search of a crime runs, the more weird things leak out the the FBI. We now have learned operatives in the FBI actively broomed the Clinton Server investigation, that agents wanted Trump's election "stopped", and FBI agents were intimating assassinating Trump.
This means Clap on-Clap Off knows the corrupt Mueller has zero,zip, nada, nothing.
Any indictment is going to get micro-dissected by the defense, and the prosecution’s people and info are going to get pulled out into the bright sunshine. Muller’s whole investigative team is made of Hillary stormtroopers; think the defense isn’t going to make that into a billboard-sized banner for the judge and jury?
Even with ferocious help from the media, Muller is fishing in a mud puddle.

It's a cloud that threatens to envelop its authors, not its intended victims. It doesn't appear to be affecting the November elections and it's a massive waste of resources, by which I do not mean taxpayer funds but media campaigns that might be spent in other aspects of obstructing the Trump administration. It's cost the latter dearly in terms of credibility as well, as it has the FBI. Diminishing returns, time to cut the losses.
Probably Clapper is realizing that if the issue remains in play, parallel investigations within Congress and the IG will too. And probably realizing that he and Brennan are the guys who will be designated as the fall guys to protect Obama and Hillary. So suddenly he hopes it all gets wrapped up quickly, before that comes to pass and he gets measured for an orange jumpsuit with OBAMA on the nametag, striked out and CLAPPER hand written above it.

It is my hope that if they hang Clapper, the hanging takes place on a 3 day Holiday weekend, so that those that must travel great distances have a chance to enjoy it in person.

Some in the deep state are beginning to realize that the Mueller show not only is failing to get rid of Trump, but poses a danger to them.
