Leading figures of both parties pressured President Trump on Sunday to halt his administrations practice of separating children from their parents when apprehended at the border, as the issue further polarized the already divisive immigration debate in Washington.
Republican lawmakers, the former first lady Laura Bush and a onetime adviser to Mr. Trump joined Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton, in condemning the family separations that have removed nearly 2,000 children from their parents in just six weeks. The administration pushed back, arguing that it was just enforcing the law a false assertion that President Trump has made repeatedly.

Absolutely lets limit family separations.
Turn them around and send them back to mexico the same day as they show up.
Presto, no separation of the "family."
.
My wife says charter a couple of planes and dump them at Mexico City airport tarmac.
End of problem.
and re: Walmart - I want info about the 350 walmarts that suddenly closed in 2015 and are now refurbished to house these aliens.. YOUR tax dollars, in secret, under the Ohumma admin.
Thanks, Obama....
There are no leading Republicans.
The are all little slithering worms.
Likely only 10 percent of those “children” come here with their parents (and I use the word “parents” loosely). The majority of these children are sent here ALONE, unaccompanied by their so-called parents.
But, then again, facts do not matter to leftist scumbags.
Funny how they don’t give a flying rat’s a$$ about such traumatic “separation” when they advocate aborting pre-born children.
I did not know that. I hate walmart.
I confess that I do not understand this issue. Are they proposing a law requiring children to be imprisoned with their parent when the parent is arrested? If a child arrives with two parents, whose cell is the child to be placed in?
“Why am I not hearing any common sense. Any parent that would leave their child behind his completely dysfunctional. Why would we want them in this country? The commonsense thing is the kids go with the parents. Why is nobody saying this?”
They are taking too long to process and deport these illegals. Bring them in and detain them as a family unit (if applicable) and if they don’t have papers to show citizenship then immediately deport the whole family.
These bureacrats are getting wrapped around the axle over nothing.
Feckless Bush.
Isn’t it amazing how these convenient “events” take on a life of their own?
If I was a conspiracy theorist, I would think this is part of a well planned diversion to hide the silent Coup taking place as we speak.
Bush League Republicans, those same people who set this invasion up.
>>>a false assertion that President Trump has made repeatedly<<<
Really? What is the Law, lock up the Kids in Adult Prisons then?
Laura Bush had no problem with Obama doing the same thing.
The only other 'Republican' quoted was Susan Collins.
They haven’t received the attention they thought they would’ve received by now. I’m laughing at all of them. Their show gets worse by the hour.
No amnesty, not for anyone. Illegal aliens and immigrants from countries who hate us or whose value are incompatible with ours pose a threat to our way of life.
Exactly! Reunite them and send them home. This is not their home. They broke into our home.
She didn't just kill babies.
In fact, there is no law that requires families to be separated at the border. There is a law against improper entry at the border, as well as a consent decree known as the Flores settlement that limits to 20 days the amount of time that migrant children may be held in immigration detention, which a federal judge ruled in 2016 also applies to families. A 2008 antitrafficking statute signed into law by a Republican president, George W. Bush also requires that certain unaccompanied alien minors be transferred out of immigration detention in 72 hours. None of those laws or precedents mean that children must be taken away from their parents.
Go ahead, lefties...try truth for a change. Just say that you support catch and release.
