I believe that the main reason (besides laziness) for using the unauthorized server was to avoid FOI disclosures of the seamy side of the Clinto Foundation AND the things she had been doing as Secretary of State with Uranium One and other influence peddling and need we say espionage, that is cash for information, both technical and political.
Funny. I got somewhat dispirited since I didn’t have time to follow the IG report when it came out, and the postings here on FR and what I did see (OR NOT SEE) from the media not only displayed how they intended to handle it, but that the approach was effective. Even I began to slide down that slope of “nothingburger”...until I got a chance to listen to Mr. Bongino.

Q: Does having a Certificate and a Domain imply secure traffic?
A1: Domain = No. freerepublic.com is a domain. Registering a domain name does not create data security on your server. By analogy, posting your street number outside your house does not prevent burglary.
A2: Security Certificate = mixed. Security Certificates are files with data showing other servers that yours has been deemed secure by a third party that has established credibility to issue such certificates (for $). Having a Certificate provides no security to you; the lack of a security certificate warns other systems that communicating with your system might be risky. Presumably the issuer has verified that your system is legitimate, has a firewall and various security measures in place, etc. This would have zero effect on insecurity of Hillary’s Blackberry.

I’m on various forms of social media. You know the only place I’ve seen the IG report mentioned? FR. Everything old is new again, and this issue just is not drawing attention.
That may be true...I admit I don’t use Facebook, Twitter or anything else.
The thing is, the levers of power have been engaged. Once certain facts are made public and the gears start turning, it can’t generally be stopped. I think (and hope) that is what is happening here.

Actually they stop all the time. Anything that doesn’t bring a constant stream of new facts doesn’t survive the weekend in the news cycle. The IG report is already old dead news.
