Rep. Steve King (Iowa) says his fellow House Republicans "are considering" removing Speaker Paul Ryan, who has announced he is retiring after this Congress.
Its kind of odd that he has as much power as he has, King said in an interview with Breitbart News Tonight released Friday.
But I do predict, and it is happening, that that power is diminishing. I also have got information that there are Ill say members I say that plurally, with knowledge, that are considering introducing a motion to vacate the chair, King continued. If they do that, that will throw this place into a tizzy and force the kind of election for a Speaker that may bring out someone who is a lot stronger on this.
Speculation has been growing among rank-and-file Republicans that Ryan won't be able to hold on to his gavel for the rest of the year, though few are calling on him to resign early.
Last month, Ryan pushed back on reports that he may be asked to step down.

Why bother when you can cause so much more damage as a Republican ? See Willard, McQueeg, the Bushes, et al...
They're ALL hypocrites!
King is delusional on several aspects of this plan.
First, a motion to vacate would be immediately followed by a motion to table from another member. That would pass and the motion to vacate would never see the light of day again.
Second, even if it wasn't tabled there aren't 218 votes in the House to remove Ryan.
Third, even if there were there aren't 218 votes to elect Jim Jordan or anyone else Speaker.
“...the new speaker could have a very short stay.”
So what. Main thing is Ryan is gone.
Exactly. Most gasbaggery.
It seems this “oust the Speaker” talk is floated every so often, I suppose for political consumption by the gullible. It’s total nonsense.
Like him or not, Ryan is high up on the Swamp totem pole. He is GOPe. He ain’t going no where. No way will the Chamber of Commerce let their 2020 candidate get tarnished.
Paul “My Assistant Beaker” Ryan needs the boot.
Excactly. And Ryan's owners don't care if the Republicans lose it. The owners have no interest in Republican/Democrat stuff. Ryan's owners paid for a product and now they want delivery. To Ryan's owners, losing the House just means switching contractors. No biggy.
“Its kind of odd that he has as much power as he has,... “
Best guess is that Ryan is and has long been tied into the DNC’s blackmail system.
He’s a good little boy and plays his part in the fake opposition to a tee, so earned himself some access to the blackmail files to keep him in power.
He’s playing the McCain strategy. He can allow his true colors to show by taking advantage of his DEAD career. In McCain’s case, he’s not a lame duck. He’s literally a DEAD duck.
Then they need to have a “come to Jesus meeting” and ask Ryan if he wants the last part of his “legacy” to that he forcibly removed.
Given what Ryan is pushing, it is important to push him out no matter the duration.
Ryan needs to GTFO!
