Cohen, like Manafort, may very well be a crooked S.O.B. who belongs in jail.

This is true. I’ve no argument with this. These guys are but pawns in the chess game between Trump and the Swamp.
Expendable.
But Trump should pardon them anyway. Pre-pardon them, if you will. That’ll send a clear signal to the Swamp that they can jack around all they want. But to no end.
Pardon these goys and watch liberal heads explode.
They will simply turn over the evidence to NY or some other state. Trumps pardons will not help them on that.
If Manafort and Cohen have committed crimes that have nothing to do with Trump, why should he pardon them ?
