You can’t be friends with people who disagree with you about politics. At least that’s what Salon wants you to think.
Salon political staff writer Chauncey Devega commands you to cut Trump supporters completely out of your life, saying that, “If you have friends or relatives who support Donald Trump you should confront them. Explain to them that they are complicit with Trump's cruelty and sadism.”
Then he tells her readers to, “communicate that you will no longer speak with them, nor will you offer them emotional, financial or other types of support until they denounce Donald Trump and what he represents — and make amends through speech and action.” A public confession, rending of the garments, self-flagellation, etc.
Chauncey sounds nice, doesn’t he? No wonder progressives are so miserable -- they’re incapable of compartmentalizing. Just ask noted hockey fan and parade enthusiast David Corn.

Yes, it is funny that in our family, the Trump supporters are the ones who give all the emotional, financial and other type of support and the ones who need it are the ones who hate Trump.
One can only wish that after they denounce us they would go away and stop whining and asking for money. But they won’t, they need us to survive, but never seem to be able to think thru why that is true.
Well, I quit dealing with rapid Obama supporters, during his rein of terror, so I can’t throw stones. I didn’t cut everyone one off, only the rapid ones who constantly brought it up.

Politics has become a battleground of value systems.
When you have two values systems that are anathema to ea h other, it’s hardly surprising that you can’t be friends with each other.
You get to a point where the best solution is physical separation of the two groups.

I have some liberal family members. Mine aren’t as petty or bitter as this moron though. A couple are growing up and steadily becoming more conservative with every passing year.

I have always heard that as standard legal advice in that situation. That it’s a much stronger defense to any challenges.
