The US says its discussions with North Korea are moving "more quickly than expected" ahead of the summit in Singapore on Tuesday.
The preliminary talks between officials have been taking place ahead of the unprecedented first meeting.
The White House also confirms that President Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un will hold a one-on-one meeting, with only translators present.
The outcome may determine the fate of North Korea's nuclear programme.
The US insists it will accept nothing less than complete denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula.
North Korea has said it is willing to commit to denuclearisation, but that term is open to interpretation.
It is also unclear what concessions Pyongyang could demand in return - which makes the summit very hard to predict, according to analysts....

Don’t assume that Kim did it. We tend to forget that while Kims come and go the Nork generals are the powers behind the throne. And they are likely the shot callers ordering hits.
Kim may have been equal parts hostage and figurehead ruler. But if something unfortunate recently happened to the Nork generals then Kim Jong Un the basketball loving Swiss student is now free to act.
This is pretty big...just heard on Ingram Show on Fox that the North Korean State media has announced to the people of NK that Kim is in Singapore negotiating with President Trump on denuclearization. Now it makes more sense that he axed the top 3 military guys a few weeks ago and we probably can say with good faith that China dropped the hammer on Kim.

I saw Dennis Rodman speak at West Point on his North Korean experiences.
Before that, I had thought that he was a clownish figure, because of his appearance. After that, I view him as a truly exceptional human being - a good man with a huge heart.
Dennis Rodman was also on Trump’s TV show with him - Rodman is a long time friend of Donald Trump, and a vocal Trump supporter.
